Encountering Wind
They doing some work over there just going to go on a little Mission, see what they doing all right. I’ve sped this up times two, because we encounter something we are encountering a little bit of wind. You might have been able to hear it in the main part of the intro here, it’s like 7 to 12 m per hour, and I guess being in a wide open like this, where you ain’t got no blockade it’ll, let you know about it and again right.
File Transfer
What you’re looking at is a file transfer from the Drone to the phone. I did not uh put the SD card and you see a little wobble in the gimbal right there uh. That was the first time I got a warning. We do go out a little bit further, I think – or maybe this was the retreat. This was the retreat here, look so in app its actually just showing a strong wind advisory.
Dealing with the Wind
So I try a couple different things here. I try to fly uh kind of into the wind and then I will try to fly kind of to the right of the wind where it’s hitting me from the side, and then we figure out the fix and if you don’t want to watch the entire video. I get that time is precious. I understand that put it in sport mode um, even in sport mode, though I was able to go further, but I did encounter the wind, the wind warning as well so right here, you can see me it’s a little bit.
Testing in Windy Conditions
Today, we are testing the DJI Mavic Mini in slightly windy conditions. As you can see in the video quality, it’s a little breezy but nothing too crazy. Despite the wind, the drone seems to be holding up pretty well.
Quality Control and Purpose
I take pride in ensuring the best quality control when it comes to drones. I didn’t purchase these drones for a competition or popularity, but rather out of a genuine love for drones. I only invest in products that I believe I will use and enjoy, which is why I have kept the majority of them.
Flight Modes
During the test flight, the drone is in Normal mode, but there are also Cinematic and Sport modes available. We will switch to Sport mode to see how the drone performs under more challenging conditions.
Telemetry Data
Looking at the telemetry data on the screen, we can see that we have 14 satellites connected and full bars of RC connectivity. This setup gives us a good indication that the drone should perform well during the flight.
Handling Strong Winds
Upon receiving a wind warning while flying the DJI Mavic Mini, the estimated battery time became a concern. The drone struggled against the strong winds, reminiscent of throwing a rock into the wind. However, activating Sport mode allowed for better stability, although there was still room for improvement.
Comparison with DJI Spark
While the DJI Spark might have been better equipped to handle the windy conditions due to its heavier build and three-axis gimbal, the Mavic Mini with its two-axis gimbal faced challenges. The non-foldable design of the Mavic Mini also posed limitations in windy conditions.
Exploring with the DJI Mavic Mini
As a drone enthusiast who enjoys exploring abandoned areas and capturing unique photographs, the DJI Mavic Mini serves as a valuable tool. Despite the wind warning issue, the drone allows for creative exploration and documentation of hidden places.
Flying in Normal Mode
As we fly in the normal mode, the wind hits us directly down our left side, causing some challenges. Despite attempting different maneuvers to fly further, the wind warning activates quickly due to the side of the drone being impacted by the wind.
Transition to Sport Mode
In order to combat the wind resistance and continue the flight effectively, we decide to switch the drone to sport mode. By making this adjustment, we are able to navigate through the wind more efficiently and maintain control over the drone’s movements.
Flying with Precision
With the drone now in sport mode, we are able to fly with more precision, even when faced with strong winds. By adjusting our angle and speed, we can navigate through the wind without compromising the stability or safety of the drone.

Maybe if we didn’t fly nose in and just kept the pitch to the right just a little bit, maybe then we could have kept going because maybe that’s the way you kind of got to fly into it kind of like side looking at it. Like, if you side, glaring somebody um but uh kind of like SL side flying guys.
