Disabling Low Battery Beeping
The first major firmware update for the Potensic ATOM 3-Axis Mini Drone includes the option to disable the low battery beeping from the remote controller. By simply short pressing the power button, users can now turn off the annoying beeping sound, providing a more seamless flying experience.
Quiet Mode for Auto Return to Home
In addition to disabling the low battery beeping, users can also opt for quiet mode for the auto return to home feature. This update allows users to either click the power button again to turn off the sound or activate quiet mode in the settings to prevent the sound from turning on in the first place.
Beeping Notification for Lost Target in Visual Tracking
Another notable update is the addition of beeping to the remote controller when the target is lost in visual tracking mode. This feature provides immediate feedback to users, alerting them if the drone has lost track of the target during tracking. This real-time notification can be particularly useful, especially for solo flyers.
Battery Malfunction Prompt
The latest firmware update also includes a prompt for battery malfunction. While there have been no reported malfunctions, this update ensures that users are alerted in case of any battery issues. The prompt serves as a preventive measure to maintain the drone’s performance and safety.
Optimization of Find My Drone Feature
Finally, the firmware update optimizes the find my drone feature, enhancing the overall user experience. While this feature is designed to help users locate their drone in case of a crash or loss, it has not been tested due to the lack of crashes. However, the update aims to streamline the process of finding the drone, providing peace of mind to users.
Gimbal Firmware Update
The latest firmware update for the Potensic ATOM 3-Axis Mini Drone includes improvements to the gimbal stability. They have optimized the gimbal calibration algorithm and have also addressed the issue of tilted Horizon in some scenarios. While gimbal tilt may not have been a major problem for most users, these upgrades ensure a smoother and more stable flying experience.
Flight Control Firmware Update
One of the key upgrades in the latest firmware update is the optimization of the forced takeoff experience. Although some users may not have fully understood the significance of this improvement, it is indeed a big deal. This enhancement ensures a more reliable and smoother hand launch process for the Potensic ATOM drone. While there is always room for further improvements, this update marks a significant step forward in enhancing the overall flight control experience.
Overall Enhancements
These firmware updates demonstrate Potensic’s commitment to continually improving the performance and user experience of their drones. By addressing specific issues such as gimbal stability and flight control optimization, Potensic is ensuring that the ATOM 3-Axis Mini Drone remains a top choice for drone enthusiasts.
Improved Force Launch Feature
The Potensic ATOM 3-Axis Mini Drone has received major firmware updates to address the Force Launch feature. Users were previously experiencing errors when attempting to launch the drone, especially in scenarios like launching from a moving boat deck. With the new firmware update, users can now enable the motors by pulling down and in on the sticks for 2 seconds, before using the left stick to actually launch the drone. This has proven to be a more reliable method for launching the drone, even in challenging situations.
Enhanced Control for Boat Launches
Launching the drone from a boat deck has now become a smoother process, thanks to the updated firmware. Users no longer have to struggle with getting the drone to launch while the boat is moving. By following the new Force Launch procedure, users can ensure a successful takeoff even in motion.
One-Handed Hand Launch
For users who prefer hand launching the drone, the updated firmware has also made the process easier. By enabling the motors with a simple movement of the sticks, users can now launch the drone with one hand, even in scenarios where the ground is uneven or when launching over water. This improvement not only enhances convenience but also increases safety during the launch process.
Hand Launch and Boat Launch
So while I do commend Potensic for getting that to work at all so that you can do hand launch or launch from a boat at all, that’s nice. However, you can’t be doing this one handed monkey dance trying to make that work, while you’re trying to keep a drone with spinning propellers away from your face at the same time. Potensic, if you’re listening, make it a one push button, a slide, something so that you don’t have to fiddle quite so much.
Dedication to Improvement
Overall, they’ve done a decent job with this Atom and really that just shows their dedication to not only making it better and keeping the quality high, but adding features for you for free.
The latest firmware updates for the Potensic ATOM 3-Axis Mini Drone have brought significant improvements to the gimbal stability and flight control experience. These enhancements demonstrate Potensic’s dedication to providing users with a top-quality flying experience. With these upgrades, the ATOM drone continues to set the standard for mini drones in its class.
