Welcome to the HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone and C1 ELRS Remote – Review
HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2
The HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 comes in a nice little case and includes several items that I will show you in the unboxing. But for now, let me tell you about the whoop itself. It’s a 1s drone, which means it is perfect for indoor flying. According to the website, it is designed as an indoor drone with analog transmission and brushless motors. Additionally, it weighs under 250g, making it easy to handle and fly.
Unexpected Outdoor Performance
Despite being labeled as an indoor drone, I decided to take the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 outdoors for a flight. To my surprise, it performed exceptionally well, even in windy conditions. The drone flew smoothly and remained stable, defying its intended use. This unexpected outdoor performance adds to the versatility of the drone and makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor flying.
C1 ELRS Remote
In addition to the Petrel 75 Whoop V2, I also received the C1 ELRS remote by HGLRC. This remote is designed to be used with the drone and features the latest ELRS 2.4 version 3 technology. This makes it one of the most modern and reliable remote controllers in the market. The combination of the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 and the C1 ELRS remote makes for a great combo, providing seamless control and an immersive flying experience.
Affordability
One of the best aspects of these products is their affordability. Both the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 and the C1 ELRS remote are reasonably priced, making them accessible to drone enthusiasts of all budgets. This allows you to purchase both items without breaking the bank, and enjoy a great time flying your drone.
Connector Compatibility
The HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone is an impressive piece of technology that offers a great flying experience. However, it is important to note that it does not come with any batteries. This means that you will have to use your own batteries with this drone.
The interesting thing about the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 is that it can work with batteries from other drones, such as the Beta FPV, that have a similar connector on the back. Although the connector on the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 is not originally designed for these batteries, it is still compatible if you push it in tightly enough.
The A30 Battery Plug
The connector on the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 is called an A30. If you are looking for compatible batteries, search for batteries with an A30 connector. However, if you are an avid whoop flyer like me, chances are that you already have a collection of batteries at home that will work with this drone.
In the FPV hobby, it is common to adjust connectors to match the batteries you have. If you have a drone that does not come with batteries, you can simply cut off the connector and replace it with one that matches the batteries you own. This way, you can make use of your existing batteries without any issues.
Battery Recommendation
For optimal performance, the recommended battery for the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 is a 550mAh, 1s LiPo battery. With this battery, you can expect to enjoy approximately 5 minutes of flight time. This is a standard flight time for most whoops available on the market.
Design and Features
Like many whoop drones, the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 features an all-plastic design. This makes it lightweight and easy to maneuver in the air. The motors are conveniently located at the bottom, allowing for easy replacement if needed. The front of the drone houses a camera, providing a clear view during flight.
The HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone is a great choice for drone enthusiasts looking for an exciting flying experience. Although it does not come with batteries, its compatibility with various connectors and the ability to use existing batteries make it a versatile option for FPV hobbyists. With a recommended 550mAh, 1s LiPo battery, you can enjoy a solid 5 minutes of flight time. Its plastic design and easily replaceable motors further enhance its appeal. Consider adding the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 to your drone collection for endless hours of flying fun!
The HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone
The HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone is a compact and powerful drone that offers an exceptional flight experience. With its Cam Nano, it provides a decent viewing experience, allowing users to see what they want without difficulty. The VTX in the back is rumored to shoot out at a range of 400 m. However, when connected to Beta fpv and configurator, the reviewer experienced a range of only 200 m. It remains unclear if there was a misprint or user error.
ELRS and SPI
The HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone can be purchased with ELRS, which allows for longer range flights. ELRS SPI is ideal for whoops due to its tiny size. Connecting it to Betaflight is a breeze, as one can simply hit the bind button to establish a connection. Additionally, the drone can also be obtained with Crossfire, another long-range option. However, regardless of the chosen transmission system, flight time is limited to 5 minutes. This means that users can only fly for approximately 2 and a half minutes in one direction before needing to return.

The C1 ELRS Remote is a full-featured remote control that accompanies the HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone. While it lacks a display and voice capabilities, it offers everything else that users may require. The price of the remote reflects this omission, making it an affordable option. The remote features normal switches, three-way switches, and simple binding and setup buttons at the back. Its simplicity and ease of use make it a suitable choice for those who do not require advanced displays or audio features.

Indoor Flight: Smooth and Predictable
Plug in my Fat Sharks, turn on the record, so the image I’m going to record is recorded in the Fat Sharks coming out of that analog camera. And that’s also what I’m going to see. Okay, the image is really good. I’m shooting out with 200 M. It says I’m in angle mode. I’ll leave it in that arm, and here we go, going through the house. This is the fun thing with whoops, they’re so easy to fly. They’re so predictable, reliable, everything. They don’t catch you off guard, is, I guess what I want to say, so you can fly really nice come on over to me over here. You go around this way, go around my little studio light and me here, camera, and back down the hallway. So no issues whatsoever and you can go faster. I’ve got it. The camera pointing straightforward, but I could still boogie. I’ll go the opposite direction here. There I do have a very small house coming back, coming back and I’ll come over here through my messy kitchen and come back and land on the table in front of me. There we are, so that was the indoor flight. It flies exactly as I expected it to fly.
Outdoor Flight: Windy Conditions
Now, let’s take it outdoors. It is recommended to only fly this indoors, but I’m going to take it outdoors on a bit of a windy day. Check this out, I’m out of my field about to fly.
[Additional content can be added here about the outdoor flight experience]
Flight Test of HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone with C1 ELRS Remote
Flight Number One
For this first flight, I have equipped the drone with a 550mAh light bulb battery 1s. I will be recording the flight footage through my Fat Shark goggles, although the analog footage might not have the best quality. Nonetheless, it will provide a clear view of what the drone sees.
Flying Modes
The C1 remote indicates the mode I am in on the top right corner. There are three modes available: angle mode, horizon mode, and air mode. For this test, I will be using air mode, which allows for more maneuverability and control.
Outdoor Performance
Despite not being specifically designed for outdoor flights, the Petrel 75 Whoop V2 performs reasonably well in moderate wind conditions. It maneuvers smoothly and handles decently as long as it is not flown too close to obstacles or people.
Power and Battery Life
I did notice a slight decrease in battery power when performing flips and rolls, but other than that, the drone’s overall performance remains satisfactory. It is important to keep an eye on the battery level to avoid any unexpected power failures during flight.
Field Observations
During the test, a few fellow drone enthusiasts, including Ron and Mark, joined me at the field. It’s always fun to fly with others and share experiences. The video footage captured through my goggles displayed impressive quality, showcasing the enjoyable flight experience.
Rod just ignores me
Rod just ignores me. He knows I do this all the time its. Like a little mosquito, dont SWAT, the mosquito all right were going to see oh hes going to hand toss us.
The HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone
Okay well, catch him hand tossing it. There we go come on Ron there. He goes theres his plane, nice takeoff and Ive lost it. Oh its in the Horizon, coming back here, it comes back at us here know, so this is pretty cool. This is a 1s little quad that the instruction manual says 100 designed for indoors, and here I am Outdoors on a windy day – windy enough to hand toss planes and uh Im buzzing around no issues.
Matter of fact, Im buzzing around. Oh look at my voltage over on the bottom left 3.2. That means land got to land. You dont want to go below 3.4, so it means my batterys going to die at any moment so Im going to bring her down. Okay lets pop over in front of me by my planes over here there we are right beside them and hit the arm switch now.
The C1 ELRS Remote
The next thing I want to show you is the C1 remote with the dongle, its pretty cool. So let me show you: we have our little dongle and this is basically an elrs receiver, so all of you in the fpv hobby, you know that if you want to bind something to an elrs receiver, one of the simplest things you can do is plug the Power in three times that will put the receiver in bind mode so lets say I was plugging PL in this into a USB device.
Setting up the HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone and C1 ELRS Remote
I would plug it in once twice and the third time leave it in and when you leave it in, it goes into bind mode, and then you hit the bind button on here and that’s it, you’re all set.
Connecting the Extension Cable
So I have a little extension cable here, I’ll plug it in. If I get it the right way there we go, comes the life little lights on it. It should automatically connect to this cuz. This is on so it means I should be able to play a video game, a simulator.
Calibration of Joysticks
You would select something like input is a USB controller which it is right here and then a lot of people don’t realize before you can fly in any flight Sim. You usually have to calibrate your joysticks cuz. It doesn’t have a clue. The computer doesn’t have a clue or the flight Sim what controller you’re using.
So you just click on a calibrate button. You go through the whole calibration process. When you’re done you’re done, every simulation will be different. This is a very old simulator and I don’t even know if it exists anymore and then, when you’re all done, you can go fly.
Flying with the HGLRC Petrel 75 Whoop V2 Drone
So look at this no cable attached and I can fly. I can go. Do some fpv flying around here go in and out of stuff, so the dongle is a really cool idea because say we were flying someplace where this was my living room.
