Initial Setup
We pulled it out of the box and flew it without reading any instructions. I’ve done a cursory read of the instructions control it with the app you want to try it without the app yeah yeah yeah yeah. All right just going to turn it on and see what happens? Okay, please connect to your phone and activate your device with the hover app. Oh activate activation succeeded Chinese. If the word is successful, so you just do that you hit the thing once continue. Okay, please hold the device to face the user; they want you to hold it isn’t it being held tap to view the error details cant take off. Please keep the camera facing you. Does it know it’s not in a hand, I think so seriously. I think so.
Camera Features
What is it got a hand detector on it, that’s, okay, take off all right, is it recording? I don’t even know I think so, red light red recording, I think so. Where’s it recording to the hover air X1 records to an internal 32. Gig drive and files are accessible from a USBC Port. The teeny tiny camera is on a two axis Gimbal and can shoot up to 274x 1520 resolution at 30 frames per second.
Flight Modes
Alright flight modes, so you can do a selection on the Drone itself. What happens if it does an orbit? How far out does it go? Yeah, yeah, 1.5 M, Orbit, 1.5 M orbit and it automatically starts recording.
Autonomous Drones Experience
Is it recording? It is recording okay, so it only started recording when it started doing the circle thing. How many times does it go around once I think that’s it? I am clearly not a fan of autonomous drones. Does it come back so we can grab it? Yes, no, it’s going to stay. Oh, it comes back. Okay, all right! That was cool.
Control and Navigation
Is it recording, oh it’s going to hit the tree man? I hope it doesn’t hit the tree. No good luck! Little buddy! Oh hell! This is disconcerting I’m not controlling the that’s 9 M, so it’s going to go. Does it control the gimbal too? I think so that, okay, all right all right, that’s, all right it’s cool all right standard, follow it imprinted on me. I’m the you’re, the mama I’m, the mama. We were very impressed with the follow me mode, so we moved to a location with more obstacles. Still following me come on little guy.
Obstacle Avoidance
This is risky, no obstacle avoidance. I have to kind of steer it with my bald day so far so good does it have obstacle avoidance? No it it knows to go over stuff. You think it’ll follow me down the slide. Only one way to find Laughter out all right I’m going Music in. Is it following me? No, it’s not it lost you man. I really want to go down the slide. All right. Oh no did you get that I did its Landing it’s landing on its own.
Experience with HoverAir X1
Okay, all right all right, well, thats good! I was tired of running around, so I Enlisted the help of a young man named Samuel. If I fly it and have it follow you will you run and try to outrun it cuz Im old and I cant run. You want to do that. Oh he turned it on hold it in your hand. Watch your watch. Fun with the HoverAir X1
He goes no, its fine, okay, its kind of awesome and kid proof Samuel. Oh, he lost his shoe all Music right. Oh boy weve been using the same 1050 mlia battery all afternoon, but it didnt have enough energy to keep up with Samuel its run too fast.
Selfie Drone
What do you think of that little drone its not a drone, its not its a flying camera? Oh thats! Right, its a selfie drone and its awesome, it is kind of awesome yeah I at first I was like I can’t control it. I can’t do anything there’s no joysticks, but turns out it’s all that a selfie drone needs to be, and other people like it too. Yes, kids, love it and it’s all all the props are in here. It can’t hurt anybody and it folds up and it’s dog friendly, look at that. You just put it in your pocket boom or your purse, or your fanny pack, fanny pack
Convenient and Portable
