The GEPRC RACER FPV drone is a thrilling device that promises an adrenaline rush like no other. With its sleek design and powerful performance, this drone is perfect for those who have a need for speed. However, in this review, we will uncover some of the challenges and limitations that the GEPRC RACER FPV drone possesses.
The GEPRC RACER FPV drone is a perfect choice for racing enthusiasts who are looking for a high-performance and affordable racing quad. Packed with advanced technology and designed to meet the demands of professional racers, this drone promises an exhilarating racing experience. In this review, we will delve into the features and capabilities of the GEPRC RACER FPV drone and why it is the ideal choice for racing enthusiasts.
Introducing the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone
Welcome to the Captain Drone YouTube channel! Today, I am excited to share my experience flying the brand new GEPRC RACER FPV Drone. As a drone pilot, I am always on the lookout for high-speed and high-performance drones, and the RACER does not disappoint.
High Performance Flight Controller
One of the standout features of the RACER is its new high-performance flight controller. This advanced technology allows for precise and responsive control, making it perfect for racing enthusiasts and professionals. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pilot, you’ll appreciate the smooth and agile flying experience this drone offers.
Powerful Motors
The version I am reviewing today is equipped with the 20207 motors. While these motors are already impressive, if you’re a pro, you may want to consider upgrading to even more powerful motors for an exhilarating flying experience.
Analog FPV Goggles Compatibility
The RACER is a completely analog drone, which means that if you already have analog FPV goggles, you can use them to power this high-speed machine. This compatibility allows you to enjoy the thrill of racing without needing to invest in additional equipment.
Battery and Connectivity
To power the RACER, you will need a 6S LiPo battery with a capacity of around 1300 to 1500mAh. The drone is compatible with batteries featuring an XT60 connector, ensuring a secure and reliable connection during your flights.
Plug and Play Option
It’s worth noting that the version of the RACER I received was a plug and play model. This means that it did not come with a receiver, as I had to use one from another drone to fly it. While this may not be the case for all models, it is essential to check the specifications and ensure you have all the necessary components before flying.
Overall, the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone impresses with its high-speed capabilities, advanced flight controller, and compatibility with analog FPV goggles. Whether you’re a racing enthusiast or looking to upgrade your drone collection, the RACER is a powerful and reliable choice that will undoubtedly satisfy your need for speed.

Receiver Upgrade
When it comes to flying drones, having a reliable receiver is essential for a seamless and uninterrupted flight experience. In my quest for the perfect receiver, I stumbled upon the radio Master receiver. Although it may not be the most visually appealing addition to my drone, I attached it securely on top. To ensure the receiver’s antennas don’t get damaged by the drone’s propellers, I used zip ties to keep them in place. Surprisingly, the setup takes on a unique bumblebee-like appearance, which adds a touch of coolness to the overall aesthetics.
Maiden Flight
Before pushing the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone to its limits, I decided to start with a simple takeoff and landing pad flight, keeping it within my line of sight. Since I was uncertain about its speed capabilities, I wanted to get a feel for its performance. I successfully bound the receiver to my trusty radio master tx16 s, a reliable companion I’ve been using for a long time. The 6S battery, packed with power, was securely connected, ensuring a thrilling flight.
Pre-flight Preparations
To ensure a smooth flight, I carefully adjusted all the necessary switches on my radio master tx16 s. It was essential to find the perfect mode, and after much consideration, I settled for angle mode. With all the preparations complete, it was time to power up the drone and witness its true potential.
Unleashing the Power
As I turned on the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone, I could feel the anticipation building up. With the drone hovering in front of me, I couldn’t help but notice its powerful presence. Although it may be challenging to capture the full experience on camera, the drone’s agility and responsiveness were evident with every twitch of the joystick. The excitement was contagious, as I could sense this drone could take flight at exhilarating speeds, promising an adrenaline-fueled adventure.
Nonmovable Camera
One of the first issues that arise with the GEPRC RACER FPV drone is the nonmovable camera. This means that the camera is fixed and cannot be adjusted for a better view. The camera is pointing almost straight up, making it difficult for the pilot to see where they are going. In order to fly properly, the pilot has to tilt the quad, resulting in full thrust forward. While this provides a thrilling racing experience, it can be problematic when it comes to landing. As the pilot brings the quad down for a landing, they are essentially looking at the sky and have no idea where they are, making for a potentially rough landing.
Analog Video Signal
Another drawback of the GEPRC RACER FPV drone is the analog video signal. When using fat shark goggles, the video signal appears to be of poor quality. It is unclear whether this is due to compatibility issues between the drone and the goggles or a limitation of the goggles themselves. Despite changing channels and trying various adjustments, the video signal remains subpar. However, it is important to note that if you own analog FPV goggles, the image quality may be considerably better.

Testing the Video Quality
So, I decided to enhance the video quality of my GEPRC RACER FPV Drone by attaching a small Insta 360 camera to the front. This way, I could capture high-quality footage in case the video feed from the Fat Shark goggles turned out to be terrible. The last thing I wanted was to crash my expensive drone.
Taking to the Skies
With everything set up, it was time to fly the GEPRC RACER. I activated the Fat Shark goggles and was disappointed to find that the image quality was less than impressive. It felt like I was watching a low-budget sci-fi movie from the 1980s or 1970s. My hope was that switching to Acro mode would improve things.
Testing Acro Mode
I switched to Acro mode and, to my surprise, the image quality remained atrocious. Despite this setback, I decided to give the drone a chance and took it higher into the sky. What I noticed was that the drone flew exceptionally well. It was responsive and agile, making it a joy to pilot despite the disappointing video feed.
Fogging Up
To make matters worse, when I attached my Fat Shark goggles and turned on the fan to prevent fogging, the image quality deteriorated even further. The fogging caused by my breath made it almost impossible to see the feed clearly. Despite these challenges, I persisted with my flight.
Testing Speed
Despite receiving low battery signals, I decided to push the GEPRC RACER to its limits. I accelerated the drone to full speed, racing it across the sky. The maneuverability and speed were impressive, and I felt a surge of excitement as I executed daring turns and maneuvers. It was a thrilling experience, even with the poor video quality.
Landing and
As the drone’s battery continued to drain, it was time to bring it back down for a landing. However, I faced a significant challenge. Looking at the video feed from my Fat Shark goggles, all I could see was the sky. It was impossible to determine my location or if there were any obstacles below me. This was a concerning flaw in the drone’s design.
Despite the disappointing video quality and the inability to gauge my surroundings accurately, the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone proved to be a fantastic flyer. Its agility and speed made up for the shortcomings in the video feed. However, improvements in the camera and video transmission system are necessary for a truly immersive and enjoyable flying experience.
The Exciting Experience of Flying the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone
Flying a drone can be an exhilarating experience, especially when you have a high-performance machine like the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone. With its impressive speed and maneuverability, this drone is perfect for adrenaline junkies who crave the need for speed.
Bringing the Drone to Life
As I head out to an open field, I am filled with anticipation. Nobody is around, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the thrill of flying this powerful drone. I carefully bring it closer to my position, the grass below barely visible. As the drone approaches three trees, I realize it’s time to put my skills to the test. Without hesitation, I maneuver the drone towards the grass. A slight impact, but nothing major. We’re good to go!
Exploring the Features
Now that I have recovered the drone, I decide it’s time to put a GPS on it for a more precise flight. However, finding the button to turn on the fan becomes a minor challenge. After spending 20 minutes searching for it, I discover it’s right on the bottom, cleverly labeled as “fan on/off.” With the fan activated, I am ready for the next flight with the GPS system in place.
The Need for Speed
Installing the GPS means sacrificing the camera, but that doesn’t dampen my excitement. Using my trusty fat shark goggles, I can still get a glimpse of the action. It may not provide the best video quality, but it’s enough to see where I’m going. I take off and start pushing the drone to its limits, racing up and down with lightning speed. The GPS allows me to track the drone’s velocity accurately, and it’s truly mind-blowing.
Size Matters
One thing that catches my attention is the size of the GPS unit. It is noticeably large and protrudes from the top of the quad. However, this is a small price to pay for the added functionality and thrilling experience it provides. The GPS ensures precise navigation and enhances the overall performance of the drone.
The GEPRC RACER FPV Drone is a remarkable piece of technology that caters to speed enthusiasts. Its powerful motor and agility make it an excellent choice for those craving the adrenaline rush of high-speed drone racing. With the additional GPS feature, flying the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone becomes an even more exhilarating experience. So strap on your goggles, feel the need for speed, and take to the skies with this amazing drone.

Testing the GEPRC RACER FPV Drone
We have full power, another fresh 6s LiPo battery. Okay, the quad is down here, I’m not going to plug in the battery until the GPS has sufficient satellites. This thing says nine satellites, so it’s ready to go.
Takeoff and Flight Experience
So I just plug this. In turn on the fan fan on yes, I hear it buzzing, maybe that’s why they don’t put on, does suck up more battery with the fan on see. If I have an image. Yes, I have the same crappy image, sci-fi 70 show here we go EO. Okay, we’re all good all right here we go go down nice and slow at least now I have the fan on so it’s not going to fog up on me. So now I can see myself flying along the field nice and lower this time. Obviously, all you can see is the crappiness in my goggles here. So let’s go this way and uh that’s a few slow passes and I’m going to gun it.
The Need for Speed
Here we go, go sucking the battery dry. I was at the end of the field in no time again again. There we go. I can just imagine what the speed is all right let’s, bring it down for a landing and check our speed and come down to the Grass more and more whoa. That was a chopping. The grass let’s go see what the speed is. I’m super curious on what the speed is.
