The “Almost” SMALLEST 4K FPV Drone! Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 – Review
First Flight Experience
For my first flight, I decided to use a 1000mAh battery and head outdoors. Flying indoors is not my forte, and I have been eagerly waiting for the perfect weather conditions to take this drone for a spin. So let’s take this flight outside!
Camera Settings
To capture the best footage, I recorded in 4K 16×9 format with a shutter speed of 1/120 and an ISO of either 100 or 200. Unfortunately, I forgot the exact setting, but it’s been locked in. I also attached an nd4 filter to the camera for enhanced image quality.
Smooth Flight with Some Limitations
Despite the cold weather and slight wind of 8 to 10 mph, the Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 performed quite well during the flights. There were a few moments of Jello effect, but overall, the flight was smooth. Some prop wash was noticeable, but considering the purpose of this drone, it is not a significant concern. This drone is designed for low and slow flying, perfect for cruising and capturing breathtaking footage.
Impressive Flight Time
The flight time of the Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 was impressive, reaching approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds. With a more conservative flying style, the flight time could have been extended by an additional two to three minutes. The battery pack boasts a good amount of power, allowing for longer flights and more opportunities to capture stunning aerial shots.
Preference for 750 mAh Battery
During the second flight, a 750 mAh battery was used instead of the original 1000 mAh battery. Surprisingly, it provided a better flying experience. This preference might be due to the weight difference between the two batteries. The 750 mAh battery offered a good balance of speed and agility without compromising stability, allowing for a more enjoyable flight experience.
A Versatile Drone
The Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 proves to be a versatile drone, capable of capturing high-quality 4K FPV footage while maintaining stability in the air. Its small size and agile flying abilities make it suitable for various purposes, including cruising and capturing aerial shots without the fear of losing control or experiencing excessive turbulence.
Overall, the Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 is an excellent choice for those looking for a compact and reliable 4K FPV drone. Its smooth flight performance, impressive flight time, and versatility make it a valuable tool for both beginners and experienced drone enthusiasts. Whether you’re an aspiring aerial photographer or simply looking to have some fun in the sky, this drone is worth considering.
Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 – A Small Yet Powerful 4K FPV Drone
Throttle Control for Indoor Flights
If you are looking for a drone that is suitable for flying indoors, especially for real estate purposes or in tight spaces, the Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 is a great option. The throttle control on this drone is steady and allows for smooth and precise movements. The 550 mAh battery provides just the right amount of power without weighing the drone down.
Wind Gusts and Jello
During a test flight on a windy day with gusts of up to 13 mph, the footage captured by the Flywoo Naked FlyLens 75 showed some noticeable jello effect on the screen. Despite using the same camera settings as before, except for the iso which was set to 400, the wind had a significant impact on the overall stability of the drone. However, it is important to note that this was not a typical flight condition and the drone typically performs better in calmer weather.
Underwhelming Experience
During the flight test, it was felt that the battery was somewhat underpowered, making it difficult to achieve decent momentum. This may be a drawback for experienced pilots who are used to flying larger drones. However, for beginners or those who prefer a slower flying experience, this battery could be a good choice. It allows for easy handling and provides a relaxing cruise for approximately 3 minutes.
Learning to Fly Indoors
While tiny whoop drones are a great way to learn how to fly, it is important to note that flying indoors can be challenging, especially for those who are used to flying larger drones. Throttle control and maneuvering within tight spaces require extra focus and practice. However, once the skills are developed, flying indoors can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Angle Mode for Smaller Enclosed Spaces
Flying a drone in angle mode may not be the most exciting experience, but it can be incredibly helpful for getting a better handle on the controls, especially in smaller enclosed spaces. If you want to expedite the learning process, there is a micro version available on steam called “liftoff” that you can get early access to. It provides a great opportunity to practice and improve your skills in a safer environment.
Rubber Grommets and Shock Absorption
During my flight sessions at home, I encountered a couple of issues that I would like to address. One of the problems I faced was crashing, which resulted in the rubber grommets holding the camera in place for shock absorption coming undone. Reinstalling them proved to be quite challenging, and it seems that it is not recommended to do so. The best solution would be to replace them entirely, which can be quite a headache. To save you time and frustration, I have included a video in the description that demonstrates how to replace them properly.
Battery Mounts and Quick Release Functionality
The drone comes with battery mounts that are advertised to provide quick release functionality. However, in practice, they are not as efficient as expected. They can be quite frustrating to use, and I personally found it more convenient to use a battery strap instead. The strap ensures a secure and hassle-free attachment, allowing for a smoother flying experience.
Inconvenient Placement of the Cage
One design flaw that I found bothersome is the placement of the cage that holds the O3 air unit. The SD card slot is located right beneath it, and while attempting to insert the SD card, I accidentally snapped a part of the cage. It is perplexing why this part was positioned over the SD card slot, as it can be quite an annoyance. Although it is possible that this mishap was solely my fault, it still highlights an inconvenience that could have been avoided during the design process.
A Fun Drone for FPV Enthusiasts
Despite the aforementioned issues, I must admit that flying this drone is an absolute joy. It provides a thrilling experience for FPV enthusiasts, especially those interested in commercial use or real estate photography. The drone is capable of capturing stunning footage and offers great maneuverability in the air. When the minor setbacks are overlooked, this drone proves to be an excellent choice for immersive and exhilarating flights.
