This is the Stinger Bee from Newbee Drone, the newest addition to the squad of quads fleet. It is a 3-inch quad, utilizing 3-inch propellers. If you are flying this recreationally in America, you do not need remote ID due to its weight of 226g, including the battery, despite having an O3A unit, GPS, and no props in frame.

    Specifications

For this particular build, 1404 3850KV motors were used, slightly deviating from the official build using 4000KV motors. The choice of motors was to have an increase in power for this specific build. Instead of the TPU strap provided by Newbee Drone, a normal strap was used. Additionally, a stack was used instead of an AIO setup, potentially saving weight. With components such as GPS, a receiver, stack, O3 module, ND filter, and memory card, the total weight of the drone comes in under 230g.

    Additional Features

To enhance the functionality, a beeper was added to the drone, adding an extra 4g to the weight. This addition was made to address an issue with the goggles, which will be further detailed in a separate video. The construction of the drone was straightforward, making the build process hassle-free.

    Assembly Process

Essentially, you put the two arms together on the bottom plate screw in the standoffs. Put your stack in put your O3. In now the 03 uses an adapter which Ive never seen before, but newbie drone do sell it for about 7 off, or I would imagine about 10, if youre in America. What that does? Is that mounts directly to your 03 and then your 03? Sorry, then, the the mount mounts directly to the frame, so it lifts the 03 off the frame a little bit, but also it makes it so much easier to mount Im going to look at adding this particular Mount to every single quad Ive got thats got a 20, I think a 25 by 25 mounting pattern, or is it 20 x 20? I think its 20 x 20. Actually just ignore me. I probably should research before I make videos. Where is the fun in that so thats the thats a build covered.

    First Flight Impressions

Lets head over to the field and have a look at the initial flight before any work had been done to tune. So we are here at the field with the Newbie drone Stinger be, and this is our inaugural test flight and it lifts off the ground at about 15 20 well yeah about 15 throttle and it flies really well the first flight ever this is super smooth. I havent done any tuning on it, yet its super responsive now Ive got to be careful because its been raining here all day and what I dont want to do is for the rain to start again, so Im may be flying it too hard for what they Are I dont know, but the battery is uh is almost dead.

    Flight Performance

I don’t know how long we’ve been flying for, oh 2 minutes and 20 seconds. I suppose that’s okay for a 3-inch drone, and we are pushing it quite hard. What I would like to do is a nice little cinematic sweep around the field – it really does just want to go. There really is no sort of finesse about it. It just wants to punch you in the face as hard as it possibly can and scream, “Sting me some more, baby!”

    Pros and Cons

So the first point I raised – you can fly without remote ID if you are based in the good old United States of America. With this quad being sub-250 grams, you can fly over and near people. The dead cat frame ensures no props are in view during flight. The question is: is 3-inch the new 5-inch? You get over 5 minutes of flight time just cruising around cinematically. It’s really easy to build, featuring an amazing all3 spacer holder. It weighs 226g with a 4S LIHV 660 pack or 230g with a beeper GPS stack at all3. This thing is literally a pocket rocket.

    Limitations of the Build

There are a few drawbacks to the Newbee Drone StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone that need to be addressed. One major limitation is the size of the battery that can be used. Due to the weight restrictions of keeping the drone under 250g, users are limited in the type of battery they can utilize. Lithium ion packs are not feasible, which can affect flight time.

    Flight Performance

When pushed to its limits, the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone may experience reduced flight time, potentially less than 2 minutes. However, this issue is common among most 3″ drones in the same weight class. Despite this, the drone offers impressive performance and agility, making it a popular choice among FPV enthusiasts.

    Flight Experience

Footage from flight tests at the park showcases the speed and maneuverability of the Newbee Drone StingerBee 3″. The drone exhibits impressive performance, allowing pilots to fly with ease and precision. With the right tuning and settings adjustments, the drone can provide a smooth and enjoyable flight experience.

    Performance in Windy Conditions

The winds were quite gusty during the test flight, leading to some initial concerns about the drone’s performance. However, the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone proved to be surprisingly easy to fly, even in challenging windy conditions. Its stability and agility allow for smooth control, making it a great choice for pilots of all skill levels.

    Sub 250g Design

One of the standout features of the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone is its lightweight design, coming in at under 250g. This not only makes it easy to maneuver but also allows for flying in areas where heavier drones are restricted. The drone’s compact size and weight make it ideal for flying around people and capturing unique perspectives without compromising safety.

    Quiet Operation

In addition to its impressive flight capabilities, the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone also stands out for its quiet operation. The drone generates minimal noise, ensuring a smooth and unobtrusive flying experience. This feature makes it suitable for flying in various environments without causing disturbance.

    Gimbal Adjustments

While the drone’s gimbals may initially feel loose, making adjustments can enhance the overall flying experience. Tightening the gimbals to suit personal preferences can improve control and precision during flights. Despite this minor adjustment, the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone still delivers exceptional performance and stability.

    Unique Encounter

During the test flight, a unique encounter highlighted the discreet nature of the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone. Despite flying in close proximity to individuals, the drone went unnoticed by most, blending seamlessly into the surroundings. The drone’s unassuming presence allows for capturing footage without drawing unnecessary attention.

    On-Location Filming Experience

During the on-location filming, Jedi FPV, who had only flown larger drones like the DJ FPV and a 5-inch drone, was handed the StingerBee 3″ FPV drone. Despite being a newbie in the world of FPV drones, Jedi FPV took to flying the StingerBee with ease. Although there were a few overshoots due to the difference in rates compared to his usual setup, Jedi FPV managed to navigate the drone effectively with the added Expo to adjust for smoother control.

    Flight Performance

Jedi FPV expressed his satisfaction with the flight performance of the StingerBee 3″ FPV drone, noting that it was only his second FPV flight. He appreciated the responsiveness of the drone and how it handled in the air, allowing him to maneuver with precision. Despite the differences in rates, Jedi FPV was able to quickly adapt and enjoy the flight experience.

    Overall Impressions

With its compact size and agility in the air, the Newbee Drone StingerBee 3″ FPV drone proved to be a hit with Jedi FPV. The easy adjustability of rates and Expo settings allowed for a comfortable flight experience, even for a beginner like Jedi FPV. The drone’s performance and flight characteristics left a positive impression on Jedi FPV, highlighting its appeal to both new and experienced FPV enthusiasts.

    Performance

The Newbee Drone StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone offers exceptional performance that will surely impress any drone enthusiast. With its agile flight capabilities and smooth controls, this drone is perfect for both beginners and experienced pilots alike. The 3in sub 250 genre has a lot going for it, providing a lot of freedom in where you can fly.

    Features

One of the standout features of the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone is its GPS rescue system, which ensures that your drone remains safe and secure during flight. This feature is particularly useful when flying cinematically through urban or congested areas. Additionally, the cost of the batteries for this drone is significantly lower compared to other models, making it a cost-effective option for long-term use.

    Price

While some may argue that the price of the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone is a bit on the higher side, considering its performance and features, the investment is well worth it. The quality and durability of this drone make it a top choice for anyone looking for a reliable and high-performing FPV drone.

    Performance and Limitations

Although the Newbee Drone StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone showcases impressive performance capabilities, it does come with some limitations. One key drawback is its inability to carry a GoPro while staying under the weight limit of 250. This limitation may deter users who prioritize aerial photography or videography using a separate camera.

    Potential Modifications

To address the issue of weight restrictions, some modifications can be made to the StingerBee 3″. By making adjustments such as using a naked GoPro, changing the B to an AIO, and shortening wires, the drone could potentially meet the weight limit. However, these modifications may require sacrificing some design elements and features, such as TPU accessories.

    Longevity and Use Case

It is important to note that a frame like the StingerBee 3″ may not have the same durability as larger drones designed for Bando bashing. The longevity of this drone depends on the user’s intended use case scenario. For individuals who primarily fly 5-inch drones or cine whoops, the StingerBee 3″ offers a unique and agile alternative.

    Recommendation

In conclusion, the Newbee Drone StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone is a standout option for those seeking a high-performance 3-inch drone. While it may not be suitable for all use cases, such as heavy-duty freestyle flying or aerial photography with a GoPro, it excels in providing a different flying experience. Whether you are looking to diversify your drone collection or try something new, the StingerBee 3″ comes highly recommended for its performance and versatility.

    Easy to Build

The Newbee Drone StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone is incredibly easy to build, making it a great option for beginners and experienced drone enthusiasts alike. With a straightforward assembly process, you can have your drone up and running in no time.

One of the standout features of the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone is its affordable price point. Despite its high quality and impressive performance, this drone is within a decent price range, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

    Customizable Design

While the StingerBee 3″ FPV Drone is already a top-notch product, it has the potential to be even better with a few design changes. Users have the option to add a Carrio naked GoPro, enhancing their aerial photography and videography capabilities.

    Remote ID Not Required
