This is a Mavic Air 2 that I’ve been flying with for about the last two and a half years. It is very simple to use with a battery that is easy to pop out. The controller is basic, with modes for tripod, normal, and sport. The gimbal has a safety catch for protection.

    Mavic 3 Classic Upgrade

Now, I have upgraded to the Mavic 3 Classic. The size difference is immediately noticeable compared to the Mavic Air 2. The arms are longer, and the battery placement is at the back. The Mavic 3 Classic is equipped with sensors all over, providing enhanced safety features.

    Design Comparison

When comparing the two drones side by side, the Mavic 3 Classic is larger and more robust in design. The added sensors contribute to a sense of security and precision in flight. The Mavic Air 2, on the other hand, is more compact and suitable for casual use.

    Performance Evaluation

In terms of performance, the Mavic 3 Classic offers superior stability and control due to its advanced sensor technology. It can handle more challenging flight conditions with ease. The Mavic Air 2, while reliable, may struggle in certain environmental settings.

    Camera Quality

One of the standout features of the Mavic 3 Classic is its camera quality. The images and videos captured are crisp and detailed, thanks to the upgraded camera system. The Mavic Air 2 also produces good quality footage, but it may lack the depth and clarity of the Mavic 3 Classic.

    The Size and Design

The Mavic 3 Classic is larger in size compared to the Mavic Air 2. The massive camera on the front of the Mavic 3 is quite noticeable, showcasing the difference in design between the two drones. The smaller camera on the Mavic Air 2 may lack the size of its counterpart, but it still offers some impressive features.

    Flight Confidence

Thanks to the weight of the Mavic 3, flying this drone feels more stable and confident, especially in heavy wind conditions. This added weight provides a sense of security and control while capturing aerial footage or enjoying a casual flight.

    Image Quality

One of the standout features of the Mavic 3 is its superior image quality compared to the Mavic Air 2. The images captured by the Mavic 3 are sharper, more detailed, and overall of higher quality. This difference in image quality can significantly impact the final results of your aerial photography or videography projects.

    Memory Card Access

One drawback of the Mavic 3 is the design of the memory card slot. Unlike the convenient and easy-to-access memory card slot on the Mavic Air 2, the Mavic 3 requires a bit more effort to remove the memory card. Some users have resorted to using tape or other methods to assist in removing the memory card from the drone.

    Controller and Phone Connection

When it comes to the controller and phone connection, there are differences between the Mavic 3 Classic and the Mavic Air 2. With the Mavic Air 2, you simply plug your phone into the controller. On the other hand, the Mavic 3 offers a more advanced controller that does not require a direct physical connection to your phone, but it still needs to be in proximity for a seamless flying experience.

    Design and Features

As the Mavic 3 Classic boots up, it is evident that it shares similar settings with its predecessors. The familiar modes like normal mode and sport mode, as well as the power on/off and home buttons, are easily accessible. However, the placement of buttons like the record button may vary, catering to individual preferences. One notable addition to the Mavic 3 Classic is the buttons on the back that allow the camera to tilt downwards, providing added convenience during landing maneuvers.

    User Interface and Connectivity

One interesting feature of the Mavic 3 Classic is the requirement to connect it to Wi-Fi via your smartphone. This entails engaging your wireless hotspot and accessing the settings through a dropdown menu on your phone. It may take some initial exploration to navigate through the settings, but once familiarized, it offers comprehensive control over the system settings and configurations.

    Performance and Durability

Due to its size and robust build, the Mavic 3 Classic is poised to deliver reliable performance. While the Mavic 2 still serves as a dependable workhorse, the upgraded capabilities of the Mavic 3 Classic promise enhanced videos and aerial experiences. With its durability and improved features, the Mavic 3 Classic is set to become a staple for capturing stunning footage and pushing the boundaries of aerial photography.

    Mavic 3 Classic Features

The Mavic 3 Classic comes with an upgraded camera system, boasting a 4/3-inch CMOS sensor with 20MP resolution. The new camera setup is capable of recording 5.1K videos at 50fps, providing stunning clarity and detail in every shot. The Mavic 3 Classic also features an improved battery life of up to 46 minutes, allowing for longer flight times and extended shooting sessions.

    Mavic 3 Classic Design

In terms of design, the Mavic 3 Classic retains the sleek and compact form factor that DJI is known for. The drone is equipped with obstacle avoidance sensors on all sides, ensuring safe and reliable flight performance. The Mavic 3 Classic also comes with a redesigned controller that offers a comfortable grip and intuitive controls for easy navigation.

    Mavic Air 2 Features

On the other hand, the Mavic Air 2 is a compact and lightweight drone that packs a punch in terms of features. It comes with a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with 48MP resolution and can shoot 4K videos at 60fps. The Mavic Air 2 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 34 minutes, making it a reliable choice for aerial photography and videography.

    Mavic Air 2 Design

The Mavic Air 2 features a foldable design that makes it easy to carry and transport. It comes with advanced safety features such as AirSense technology, which alerts pilots to nearby aircraft for enhanced safety during flights. The Mavic Air 2 also comes with a compact controller that offers precise controls and a comfortable grip for extended use.

    Side by Side Comparison

When comparing the Mavic 3 Classic and the Mavic Air 2 side by side, it is clear that both drones offer impressive features and capabilities. The Mavic 3 Classic excels in camera resolution and video quality, while the Mavic Air 2 stands out in terms of portability and flight time. Ultimately, the choice between the two drones will depend on the specific needs and preferences of the user.
