Features
I did a review on a few months earlier. There are lots of features advertised, and this in many ways is like the DJI Trello. The features include dual cameras and the HD. Apparently it supports a four way obstacle avoidance system, which is standout feature because a lot of these drones are built for indoor usage and the chances of crashing them are much much higher, but most to not come with obstacle. Avoidance and even when they do its usually just on the rare side so having it on all four sides, makes a big difference.
Stability
The fixed height here means it has a stable hover and, lastly, the 360 tumbling feature is where the Drone does a nice little flip looking around the Box first, you see its available in these two colors. It has a two way: remote control system, which means youll, be able to view the footage from the camera on your phone while simultaneously controlling the Drone from the remote control.
Design
My favorite thing about the mini drone is having a storage compartment within the actual remote control opening. Opening it up youre presented with the case, has a good texture and the color looks good, but dont expect any kind of safety for your drone. This is exactly the same case. The e99 pro came in so Im expecting the quality to be on par with that drone, if not a little better due to the slightly higher price. It only comes with one battery, which is a shame really.
User Guides and Accessories
I did try to look for options of buying multiple batteries, but couldn’t get my hands on such a deal so well. Just have to put up with this: these are the user guides, the leaflet for quick instructions on how to install the app get connected to the Drone and some info of the features within the app like gesture recognition and special effects. The user manual is much more detailed. Has a good serve instructions about everything else from the remote control to Flying preparation? This little bag has a screwdriver, a micro, USB charging cable, some spare propellers and some propeller guards. This thing is the phone holder to be installed on top of the remote control and, finally, the remote control, with the little drone inside feels very light, even with the Drone inside and the material is without doubt, some kind of cheap plastic.
Build Quality and Design
The Drone feels a bit better in terms of build quality and its tiny. This is the four way obstacle avoidance system, there’s, a camera at the rare and another under the Drone. Here, a couple of LED lights here and the power button on top here, here’s a quick comparison to the e99 pro, so not just the case, but the internal packaging is also pretty identical. Just look at these side by side you can see it has the same kind of form, the same pocket on this side and even the instructions plus the user manual are very similar.
Size and Design
There are obviously differences between them in size, for example, the battery bigger on the e99 pro compared to the mini. The propellers propeller guards. Charging, cable and screw are all very similar, but they’re different enough to stop them being used across both the Drone. For for obvious reasons is very different, as one has a much smaller build, but the quality on the KY 912 feels better than it does on the e99 pro with the arms unfolded, you can see just how small the mini actually is side by side.
Remote Control
The remote control on the e99 pro looks much smaller and puts the KY 912 to shame in terms of build quality. This honestly feels like a DJI mavic air controller compared to this more like a 3D printed box.
Giveaway
I’ve just hit 500 subs and it means the world to me big, shout out to those who have supported me in this journey so far and we’re just getting started. As a big thank you, I’ll also be giving away both these drones, and I understand that feels a little cheap, so I’ll also be giving away A1 Amazon voucher with it. If you’d like to win, all you have to do is like the video, comment down a suggestion for a future video, and follow me on my social media, handles full details in the description below now back to the video to get connected.
Installation
Firstly, put the battery on charge scan this QR code to install the app it has an app on the Play Store and also on the App Store so definitely safer than the usual APK and dodgy links once installed power on the Drone by pressing the power button.
Initial Setup and Connection
For a couple of seconds, you’ll see the LED lights flashing, which is an indicator that it is now searching for a connection. If you only want to connect to the remote control, just click the power button and you’re good to go. The LED lights should now stop flashing, maintaining a solid white color. If you would like to additionally connect to the phone, head to the Wi-Fi settings and choose a name starting with KY. Head over to the app and there you have it, connected to both the remote control and the phone at the same time. You can also use the phone as a remote control, but it is recommended to avoid that as the app interface is not user-friendly.
Remote Control Functions
Let me quickly take you through the options on the remote control. The first button is the Ascend button, where the Drone rises 5 ft off the ground. Then you have the Descend button to land the Drone. Next, there are four buttons for fine-tuning the position of the Drone to give you a stable hover. It does react to these adjustments, but it still fails to maintain a steady hover and starts to drift. There is also a button that switches the obstacle avoidance on and off. It is a good idea to keep it on, but make sure you are in a spacious area because it can be a little tricky to control in tight spaces. Lastly, there is a button for the 360 flip feature.
Remote Control Features
There are buttons on the bottom left and right of the remote control that the reviewer found to be pretty useless. One is meant to be a speed switch and the other is for a return to home plus a headless mode. Unfortunately, both features did not work for the reviewer. The joysticks on the remote control function like any other joystick, with the right side controlling forward, backward, right, and left movements, while the left side is for ascending, descending, turning left, and turning right. However, the reviewer noted that there are no buttons for taking pictures or starting a video on the remote control.
App Interface
The basic app interface offers a few options at the top, including image capture and video recording buttons. The reviewer found that the image quality was poor and that the video recording struggled with movement, leaving a blurry effect. Additionally, the video recording tended to freeze frequently during use. The app also includes a 50 times zoom feature, and a media folder where images and video recordings are stored. However, the reviewer noted that the videos were not stored properly most of the time.
Media Storage
The reviewer discovered that there were files in the media folder that did not seem to be storing any actual images or video recordings. It appeared that these files may have been dummy files, as they did not seem to be functioning as intended. The reviewer expressed frustration with the media storage functionality of the drone, as it did not reliably save videos or images.
Overview of KY912 Mini Drone
The KY912 Mini Drone is a compact and lightweight drone that offers a range of features for its size. It comes equipped with a range of settings and options that allow for customization and control over the drone’s performance.
Indoor Testing and Performance
During indoor testing, the drone struggled to maintain its position and stability, despite attempts to control it using the joysticks. However, it did manage to execute a 360 flip, showcasing some agility in its movements. The obstacle avoidance system appeared to work indoors, as it managed to avoid hitting the walls effectively.
Outdoor Testing and Performance
When taken outside, the drone’s performance seemed to deteriorate. It struggled to stay stable in the wind and did not respond well to control inputs. The camera quality was subpar, with footage resembling “potato quality.” However, it may be suitable for capturing supernatural occurrences, as they tend to appear when the camera quality is at its worst.
Battery Life and Charging Time
The drone’s battery takes 60 minutes to fully charge, which is relatively long considering its small size. Unfortunately, the flight time is only around 7 minutes, which is less than its competitors like the e99 Pro. The limited battery life may be a significant drawback for users looking for longer flight times.
Remote Control and Responsiveness
Despite its shortcomings, the KY912 Mini Drone responded well to commands from the remote control. There was no noticeable lag or delay in the drone’s movements, providing a responsive flying experience. However, it tended to float to one side even with the stabilization buttons activated, affecting its overall stability.
The obstacle avoidance system
The obstacle avoidance system is surprisingly good for indoor usage, but fails to work outdoors. Having tried this, it definitely feels better when flying than the e99 pro, especially with the four-way obstacle avoidance system. It’s a good drone for beginners and anyone looking to have fun with a drone indoors with the mini size. Giving you more leeway when making mistakes, which adds to your overall confidence.
Pricing
It does cost $80 on Amazon, half that on Teu, and half of that on Bangood. Make of that what you will.
Size and Design
The size of the drone is a big plus, but on the contrary, the size of the remote control is ineffective. It doesn’t feel great in the hand, even with the drone inside the remote control. I feel the size could have still been trimmed down, especially as there is so much unused space. Having the buttons here or at the back may have been more ergonomic.
Overall, the KY912 Mini Drone is a decent option for beginners or those looking for a budget-friendly drone. While it has some useful features like obstacle avoidance and the ability to connect to a phone, the stability and hover capabilities may not be up to par with more high-end drones. However, for its price point, it offers a good introductory experience to the world of drones.
The KY912 Mini Drone offers a range of features and settings for users looking to explore aerial photography and videography. While it may struggle with stability outdoors and have limited battery life, its responsiveness to remote control commands makes it a viable option for beginners and casual users. Overall, it’s a decent small drone option, but there may be better alternatives available in the market.
That was my review of the KY912 mini drone. Let me know your thoughts in the comments and don’t forget to like and subscribe for a chance to win both these drones plus a $100 Amazon voucher. Thanks for watching and I’ll catch.
