Introduction
This is the protek 35 from iFlight. The drone is designed around the O3 air unit and comes with either an Express LRS receiver or can be bound to a DJI radio. Let’s unbox it, go through the specs, and take it for a test flight.
Thanks for those props, I do occasionally hear from Pilots coming to this kind of stuff from the DJI technology. This is not a DGI quad. It will not hover in place, it will not do things like return to home. It requires a little bit more skill and practice to fly, but with that little bit of skill and practice you’ll give you an awful lot of fun, not one.

The drone handles well, with precise controls that allow you to maneuver with ease. With expert mode enabled and the ports configured accordingly, you can fully optimize the flight experience and enjoy a thrilling ride through the skies.
Configuration
Looks like this 3.2 kHz gyro and pit loops uh CPU is just ticking over at 21, OSD turned on LED strips turned on fail, safe is set to drop, which is fine, theres, no GPS on this, so no return to home. If we have a problem, then we have to go and find the thing receiver is set up for a serial reer for crsf. If this is Express lrs in here – and that was relatively easy to bind
Modes and Setup
Modes are set up incredibly simply auxiliary one or channel 5 for arming and then channel two whatever you do with it is going to be set to angle. Most professional or accomplished pilots are going to want to go in there and have a play. Similarly, with the OSD, the layout is very basic, so you probably want to going to come in here and have a little bit of a goof around, so that the O3 air unit displays the things that you’re actually interested in. I’m going to put a dump and Diff below for this, so that you can have a look, how the setup is done.
Setup Tips
Couple of little tips in terms of the setup uh, the stuff that’s set up for the O3. A unit is absolutely already done so set OSD display, portor device equals MSP, is configured and also set display. Portor mpcore serial equals. I think it’s zero on this that’s because you are one is set, so you set the number for one less than the the? U that the o3a is connected to.
Setting Up
Setting up the iFlight ProTek 35 can be a bit cumbersome, especially when it comes to binding the receiver to the radio. The express lrs receiver that comes with it does not have a pass phrase, so you will need to power it three times quickly to get it in bind mode. This involves plugging and unplugging the battery multiple times, which is not ideal. Additionally, the o3a unit also needs to be powered and activated through a computer before flying.
Flight Experience
Despite the challenging setup process, the iFlight ProTek 35 is a joy to fly. It is incredibly easy to maneuver and provides a smooth and controlled flying experience. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced pilot, you will appreciate the stability and responsiveness of this quadcopter.
Overview of iFlight ProTek 35
There’s a lot of Expo setup on the controls and it’s only really set up for angle mode out the box, providing a very relaxed flying experience perfect for capturing aerial video. The hovering just over a quarter throttle makes it easy to control and maneuver the drone smoothly.
Flying Experience
With the default angle mode setup, the iFlight ProTek 35 offers a stable and easy-to-fly experience, ideal for beginners or those looking to capture smooth cinematic footage. However, for those looking to explore the full power and agility of the frame, experimenting with horizon or rate mode may be necessary.
Camera Performance
The camera performance on the iFlight ProTek 35 is impressive, with the DJI O3 unit capturing clear and jello-free footage. The camera is positioned at the front of the drone, ensuring no props are visible in the image. Additionally, the USB port at the back allows for easy access to recorded footage stored on the O3 air unit.
Battery Life
With a flight time of around 4 minutes, the iFlight ProTek 35 offers decent battery life for capturing aerial footage. Users can expect to have approximately 53% of the battery remaining after a typical flight session, allowing for longer recording times when pushing the drone to its limits.
IFlight ProTek 35 Overview
The iFlight ProTek 35 is a well-made and easy to fly quadcopter that is designed for smooth cinematic footage. It features LEDs at the rear for flying orientation and has a maximum flight time of around five to six minutes. The noise level is expected for a drone of this size, and it becomes harder to hear as it moves further away.
Flight Performance
With plenty of power thanks to the 6s configuration, the iFlight ProTek 35 offers a smooth flying experience. The drone is capable of capturing beautiful footage with the built-in DJI Air Unit, making it suitable for aerial photography and videography. The LED indicators on the drone give a clear indication of the battery level, starting off green and gradually changing to red as the battery discharges. It is recommended to set a timer for around five minutes to ensure a safe flight time and prevent any risk of battery drainage during flight.
Design and Features
The iFlight ProTek 35 comes with a compact and sturdy design suitable for both beginners and advanced users. The exposed USB ports at the back make it convenient to plug in the necessary components without having to remove the top cover. The two USB ports with the plugs at the bottom allow for easy access and efficient connectivity. However, there are a few considerations to take note of before flying this drone.
Activation Process
One important step before flying the iFlight ProTek 35 with the DJI system is to activate the air unit. This can be done by downloading the DJI assistant for drones, plugging in the system, and going through the activation routine. While this process may seem tedious, it is essential for proper functionality and binding with the goggles.
Power Source for Receiver
One downside noted by users is that the receiver on the iFlight ProTek 35 does not receive power from the USB cable. This means that the receiver needs to be powered from the battery separately, which can be seen as a drawback in terms of convenience. In a time where most flight controllers automatically pass power through to the receiver, this design choice may seem outdated to some users.
Flight Performance
Despite the minor setbacks mentioned above, the iFlight ProTek 35 offers excellent flight performance and stability. The drone is responsive and agile, making it suitable for various flying styles and maneuvers. With or without an action camera attached, users can enjoy a smooth and enjoyable flying experience with this drone. Additionally, the longer flight time achieved without the action camera is an added bonus for those looking to extend their flying sessions.
Overall, the iFlight ProTek 35 is a solid choice for both beginners and experienced drone enthusiasts. While there are a few considerations to keep in mind regarding the activation process and power source for the receiver, the drone’s performance and flight capabilities make it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to take their flying skills to the next level.
Design and Setup
It is important to note that the iFlight ProTek 35 requires an additional step in the setup process. One must take the props off before plugging in a battery, as this can be dangerous if not done properly. The basic setup for modes and OSD in the BEF flight setup is fine for beginners, but experienced pilots may want to customize their settings. Accessing the DJI bind button may require removing the top of the unit, which could have been designed with easier access in mind.
Build Quality and Durability
The iFlight ProTek 35 has been specifically designed around the DJI unit, but some users have expressed concern about the ease of access to certain components. The frame is integral to the overall structure of the quad, and if it were to snap in a crash, it could render the entire unit useless. It is advisable to check the availability of spare parts before investing in this drone, to ensure that replacements are readily available in case of accidents.
