My Experience in Naun Jen, China
I am currently in a town called Naun Jen in the southwestern province of Yunnan in China. I managed to find a lovely family of the D and W ethnic minority to spend New Years with, and I have a video about that coming up soon. But before I do, let’s talk about what I plan to accomplish in this video.

Update on my China Trip
Now, let’s talk about what I’ve been up to for the last 2 weeks in China. After my trip to Taiwan, I was excited to explore more of this beautiful country. I’ve had a lot of really cool experiences, but I’ve also faced a couple of setbacks.
Drone Crash in Yunnan
One of the main setbacks I faced was crashing my drone in Yunnan. It was a frustrating experience, and I want to share with you how it happened. I was flying my drone to capture the breathtaking landscapes of Yunnan when I lost control and it crashed. It was a real bummer, but accidents happen, and I had to deal with the consequences.
My Experience with DJI Repair in China
After my drone crash, I had to find a way to get it repaired. I reached out to DJI, the manufacturer of my drone, and I was impressed with their customer service. They guided me through the process of sending in my damaged drone and provided updates on the repair progress. I was relieved when I finally received my drone back, fully repaired and ready to fly again.
Crashing My Drone in China: A Travel Update
As a content creator and travel enthusiast, I constantly strive to capture the best moments of my adventures. However, sometimes things don’t go as planned, and recently, I encountered a few hurdles during my trip in China.
Preference for China over Taiwan
Upon reviewing my previous videos from Taiwan, I realized that my audience showed more interest in my content related to China. While I understand this preference, I still wanted to share my experiences from Taiwan, as they hold personal significance to me. Now that I have concluded my Taiwan series, I will be focusing on creating China videos to cater to the demand.
A Rocky Start in Yangshuo
After bidding farewell to Taiwan, I commenced my journey in Saman and made my way to the picturesque location of Yangshuo in Gangi Province. However, my plans were immediately derailed. Unpredictably, Yangshuo experienced its first snowfall in two decades, making it exceptionally cold and challenging for me to explore and record my travels.
To add to the complications, I unfortunately crashed my drone. The incident happened in Young Schwar, and it significantly impacted the beginning of my trip. The details of this mishap, however, will be discussed in a later section of this video.
Discovering Nanning and DJI Repair Shops
Despite the initial setbacks, my journey gradually improved. From Young Schwar, I made my way to the city of Nanning, home to approximately six million people. In terms of size, Nanning is similar to Melbourne, my hometown. While Nanning may not be classified as a major city in China, it does boast several DJI stores, which were the primary reason for my visit.
Being an experienced drone user, I recognized the importance of repairing my damaged drone as soon as possible. The availability of authorized DJI stores in Nanning made it a convenient stop on my journey.

Exploring Siswan: A Hidden Gem in China
After my drone crash incident, I decided to explore a different city in China. DJI, the leading drone manufacturer, agreed to send my repaired drone to another city. Excited about the prospect of warmer weather, I set my sights on Siswan, a beautiful city in Yunan Province.
Siswan is home to several ethnic minorities in China, particularly the D people. The city’s architecture reflects its rich cultural heritage, with buildings adorned in gold and a vibrant atmosphere. As I wandered the streets, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the sight of peacocks and elephants, which added to the city’s charm.
A Rising Tourist Destination
While Siswan remains one of the few places in China where elephants can be seen in the wild, the increasing rarity of these majestic creatures has led to the establishment of elephant shows for tourists. However, I personally opted not to attend these shows, as I preferred to experience the city’s natural beauty and immerse myself in its local culture.
A Week in the Hostel
During my stay in Siswan, I spent most of my time at the hostel. It was a peaceful and welcoming environment, perfect for making new friends and dedicating time to work on my videos. The week flew by, and I cherished the moments of serenity and inspiration.
Although I could have explored more during my time in Siswan, I decided to save some experiences for future videos. Rest assured, there will be captivating videos showcasing the wonders of Siswan awaiting you in the near future.
Discovering Gan: A Scenic Paradise
After bidding farewell to Siswan, I was unsure of my next destination. It was then that I met a local who recommended a place called Gan, a scenic area not too far from Shisan Bat. Intrigued by the idea of discovering another hidden gem, I eagerly set off towards Gan.
The Adventurous Trip to China
During my recent trip to China, I embarked on a unique adventure in a remote part of the country. What made this leg of the trip particularly interesting was the fact that you couldn’t book any accommodations in advance. Instead, I relied on the guidance of a fellow traveler I met in Sis B.
Exploring the Uncharted Territory
Following his advice, I took a bus to a specific bus stop and then asked a local to take me further up the mountain. From there, I started walking around, hoping to find a place to stay. It was a thrilling experience, as I had no idea what to expect.
A Fortunate Encounter
Luckily, my adventure led me to a wonderful Dye family who graciously offered me a place to stay for three nights. Staying with them was an unforgettable experience, filled with warmth and hospitality. I am grateful that I took this risk and stumbled upon such kind-hearted hosts.
Exploring Jing Shan
During my time in this remote area, I also had the opportunity to visit a place called Jing Shan. I documented my adventures there through a few videos, which will soon be available for everyone to watch. Stay tuned for some exciting footage!
The Journey Continues to Naun Jin
After bidding farewell to the Dye family, I made my way to Naun Jin. There are no trains that reach this area, so I had to rely on buses for transportation. Public transportation options were limited, but I remained undeterred in my quest for exploration.
Welcomed by the W and D Ethnic Minority
Upon reaching Naun Jin, I had the pleasure of meeting a family who were friends of a friend I made in Shisan B. This family belonged to the W and D ethnic minority, and they kindly invited me into their home during the festive period of Chinese New Year.
A Cultural Exchange
Although there was a language barrier and I couldn’t fully comprehend their conversations, the experience was utterly fascinating. It was intriguing to observe how different ethnic minorities coexist in this region of Mongolia, each having their own unique language and traditions.
In conclusion, my time in this part of China has been filled with thrilling adventures, unforgettable encounters, and intriguing cultural experiences. It has truly been a remarkable journey that has expanded my horizons and allowed me to immerse myself in the rich diversity of this beautiful country.
China Travel Update: Exploring Local Dialects and Customs

After the unfortunate accident, I decided to head down to Young town, hoping to find a repair shop specialized in drones. I knew that finding a skilled technician would be crucial to getting my drone back up and running.
However, despite my efforts, I couldn’t locate any repair shop in the town. Feeling disappointed, I made the difficult decision to bid farewell to everyone and embark on a journey to Naning.
Finding the DJI Store
My exploration in Naning led me to discover a DJI store, which was a great relief. Eager to get my drone fixed, I entered the store and was met with friendly and helpful staff members. I handed over my damaged drone, and they assured me that they would take care of it.
I was pleasantly surprised when I received an immediate notification through WeChat, as my phone number was already linked to the drone. The notification outlined the repair process, from assessment to payment and return. It was a simple and efficient system that put my mind at ease.
The Repair Process
Shortly after the notification, I was informed that a Qui had come to pick up my drone and transport it to CHD (noteworthy repair facility). It was reassuring to know that my drone was in capable hands and that the repair process was already well underway.
Throughout the waiting period, I received timely updates regarding the status of my drone. The transparency of these updates reassured me that the repair was progressing smoothly. It was evident that DJI valued their customers and aimed to keep them informed throughout the entire process.
China Travel Update
During my recent trip to China, I faced an unfortunate incident with my drone. However, the experience turned out to be surprisingly positive due to the efficient and affordable drone repair services offered by DJI.
DJI Repair Review
Upon realizing that my drone had crashed, I immediately contacted DJI for assistance. To my surprise, they responded promptly and scheduled an assessment for the following Monday. They were clearly dedicated to their work, even working on weekends.
Repair Process
After the assessment, I made the necessary payment on Monday itself and the repairs began. To my delight, by Tuesday evening, I received a notification that my drone had arrived at the DJI store for pick up. The entire process from start to finish took only five working days.
Cost-effectiveness
One of the best aspects of the entire experience was the affordability. The total cost of the repairs, including delivery, was a mere $125. Even more impressive was the fact that I changed the delivery location midway, and yet the service remained efficient and cost-effective. It almost made me consider flying to China for future DJI repairs.
Comparison to Others
In an attempt to understand the value I received, I watched a YouTube video of another person who had faced a similar issue with their drone. Surprisingly, they had to pay around $200 to $300 for the repairs, which would amount to approximately 500 Australian dollars. In contrast, my repairs were completed for a mere 25 Australian dollars.
Results
I am pleased to say that DJI did an excellent job with the repairs. They replaced the entire shell of my drone and provided me with new propeller blades. Now, my drone looks and functions like a brand new toy. I am ecstatic with the outcome and grateful for DJI’s efficient and cost-effective repair services.
