This update, version 1.13.4, does not bring any major new features for DJI drones. However, it does bring some enhancements and fixes that are worth noting. For users of the DJI avata series drones, the update may not be very significant. But for those with the DJI mini series or mic 3 Series drones, there are some noticeable improvements.

    Availability and Prompt

The DJI Fly App 1.13.4 is available for download on the App Store for iOS devices. For Android users with the DJI Flight app already installed, the app will prompt you to update to the latest version. Additionally, users will receive a notification on their controllers, such as the DJI RC2, when there is a new firmware update available.

The new feature of receiving update notifications on the controller itself, like the DJI RC2, is a convenient addition. Users will now receive a prompt on their controller when a firmware update is available. This feature makes it easier for users to stay up to date with the latest software improvements for their drone.

    Update Installation Process

There is an update available for the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the A3 controller. To install the update, simply click on the option provided and choose to update the controller. Once the download is complete, click on install. The controller will turn off and restart, and upon reboot, the DJI Fly app will be updated to version 1.3.4.

    Previous Issue Fix

In previous updates, DJI broke something on the DJI screen controllers, specifically the RC and RC2 models. When the controller was in normal speed mode on the DJI Fly app, it was showing as P mode for position mode. With the DJI Fly app version 1.3.4, this issue has been fixed. Now, when switching from sport to normal to cine mode, it correctly displays as normal in the top right corner.

    Exploring New Features

After updating to DJI Fly app 1.3.4, users may expect to see new features or improvements. However, after thorough exploration of the menus on various drones including DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI Mini 2, DJI Mini 4 Pro, DJI A3, and Mavic 3 Classic, it seems that there are no significant new features introduced in this update. Content creators have not reported any notable changes for users without the AATA system.

    App Update Details

Other than the fact that DJI have fixed the position mode indicator, so it now displays correctly as normal, there have been no major changes noted in the DJI FLY APP 1.13.4 update. This minor fix ensures a smoother flying experience for drone enthusiasts.

Flight Test with DJI Mini 4 Pro

For the test flight, the DJI Mini 4 Pro was selected as the drone of choice. Known for its capabilities and compact size, the DJI Mini 4 Pro delivered an exceptional performance during the flight test. Despite the slight rain, the drone managed to operate flawlessly in high interference areas.

With the 5.2 GHz frequency, the DJI Mini 4 Pro provides a strong signal, ensuring a stable connection even in congested areas. The drone’s reliability and performance are highlighted during the flight test, showcasing its suitability for various environmental conditions.

    Testing Quick Shots

As part of my testing, I am checking to see if Quick Shots are doing what they’re supposed to do and if we can select a target. I have previously shown how Quick Shots can be used to capture brilliant footage and in an innovative way to get cinematic shots that are difficult to achieve manually. The rocket Quick Shot, for example, flies above the target and then heads upwards, a maneuver that is challenging to replicate with manual flying.

    Return to Home Feature

One important feature I like to test on DJI drones is the built-in safety feature called Return to Home. This feature is crucial in case the drone gets lost, the signal is lost, or the battery is running low. When activated, the drone will automatically execute a return to the home point, ensuring the safe retrieval of the aircraft.

    Manual Return to Home

Now all we can do is, of course, press this button on screen right here, just to execute a manual return to home. What the Drone is then going to do is just swing around and start heading in the direction with which we took off from now. In my Digi fly app, I actually have my return to home altitude set at only 60 M. Now you may see that I was already flying above that, and this is also a great feature of DJI drones. What they do is, if you are already flying above what youve got set in the DJI fly app. It will stick at that higher altitude, basically because it thinks that you know that flying at that altitude is safer than moving down to whats set in the DJI fly app.

    Altitude Adjustment Feature

However, of course, if I do cancel the retain to home and just to show, if I fly below that, so if I take the drw below 60 M and then hit the return return to home, as you can see, it does rise to that 60 M. That’s a really cool feature I like from DJI now these updates are quite popular on my channel, so I like to just give bits of information that you might not be aware of now when it comes to Flying your Digi drone during return to home, not many people know this, but if you are returning to home, the Drone will do so depending on your model, usually around 10.

    Enhanced Performance in Strong Winds

One of the key improvements in the DJI Fly app version 1.13.4 is the ability to better handle strong winds during flight. Users now have the option to push the stick forward during a return to home situation, which accelerates the drone to its maximum speed. This new feature allows for a quicker and more efficient return to home, especially in challenging weather conditions.

    Additional Features for New Users

For new users of DJI drones, the DJI Fly app 1.13.4 offers some cool additional features that enhance the overall flying experience. These new features are designed to work in tandem with the capabilities of newer DJI drone models, providing users with more options for customization and control.

    Regular Feature Updates

For users who have older DJI drone models and are accustomed to the regular features found in previous versions of the DJI Fly app, there may not be any significant new additions in version 1.13.4. The app continues to function as expected, with all the standard features working as they should.

    Conclusion

Overall, the DJI FLY APP 1.13.4 update, coupled with the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone, offers a seamless flying experience for users. The improved position mode indicator and strong signal quality enhance the overall performance of the equipment. Despite the rain and high interference, the drone proves its reliability, making it a worthwhile investment for drone enthusiasts.

In conclusion, the DJI Fly app 1.13.4 offers enhanced performance for users flying in strong winds and introduces additional features for new users of DJI drones. While users with older drone models may not see many changes, the app continues to provide reliable functionality and precise control during flight.
