Introduction
We now have something here, so this is um the company that I have not done any reviews for before previously before today they were called, I believe, AV Avant or Avant RC, or something like that um before they changed their name to Avon RC so or they Were called Avon quads, I think sorry, I honestly like theres a lot of small companies that pop up and then they kind of disappear, and you never hear from them again.
Hopefully they’ll be enough to fulfill the needs of people out there, but I you know a lot of these small companies. They kind of hedge their bets they don’t um build a ton of these just because obviously they’re going to you know have some investment in terms of costs to build these, and if no one buys them, then they have to sell them at a discount and then Perhaps lose money, so what they’re probably going to do, is kind of wait and see what the demands like before they um produce a ton of these. So hopefully, if you guys have been waiting around for a 03 air unit with a 2 and 2 in frame. This might be the one for you and I honestly, I think there you know, for the most part, there’s a couple minor things I have um issues with, but they’re pretty minor for the most part. This is. This is pretty much the fun 2 and 12 in Quad. You can fly pretty much anywhere without attracting a lot of attention and you’ll have um enough power to do most of the tricks that you want to do. Obviously, I’m not going to say it flies like a 5 in because it does not fly fly like a 5 in because you can’t, you can’t, throw it around because it’s still under 250 g, even with the battery um, but it has that fun factor and lot More power than a 2in, but not quite as noisy and dangerous as a 3in or 3 and 12 in so for me, this is kind of the size that I’ve been looking for, so they did send me a spare frame.

Company Background
Um go back to all my videos from like several years ago and youll see all these little companies pop up and youll, see the products and then uh theyll make a few products, for you know a few months or a year, maybe two years, and then they Disappear, hopefully thats not the case for this company. This company um does use off the shelf Parts. They do design their own frames? U, but they use off the shelf Parts like this brother hobby motor here.
Product Overview
This is a 1404 4600 KB motor, and this one here um was, I guess, Del in terms of getting it in my hands, because this is technically the second batch of this particular model. I think a few videos of this one came out um, maybe a couple months ago when the first batch was made. So it kind of gives you an idea of the timing of uh. You know availability of parts and when they can build these batches of quads Im, not sure how many are in the second batch um.

Arm Bumpers for Protection
These arm bumpers are designed to go on the end of the arms of the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad to protect the carbon and motor in case of a crash. They are a thoughtful addition to the kit for added durability.
Front Standoffs and Bumper
The front of the quadcopter features M2 standoffs and a bumper piece for added protection. The standoffs provide stability and support, while the bumper shields the front end of the drone.
Camera and Frame Protection
A specialized piece on the drone protects the camera and frame from damage during crashes. This component plays a crucial role in preserving the structural integrity of the quadcopter.
Camera Mount and Antenna Holder
The AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad comes with a camera mount featuring an M2 standoff for secure attachment. Additionally, the drone includes an antenna holder at the back with M2 standoffs for stability.
Flight Controller Compatibility
The drone is equipped with an F45 base SP control flight controller, a modification from the previous F7 model. While the differences in specifications may not be significant, the updated controller offers improved performance and functionality.
Propeller Design
For the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad, a change was made to the propeller design. The quadcopter now uses the EMAC prop, replacing the four-bladed HQ prop that was previously used. This alteration has brought about some differences in the flight characteristics of the quadcopter. The new propeller design provides unique flight dynamics, although some users may find it slightly suboptimal due to its width.
Motor Compatibility
The propeller’s design has led to some compatibility concerns with the motor. The square-shaped motor of the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad clashes with the curved design of the propeller, causing it to come into contact and bend the prop. This issue is particularly noticeable with the 1203 motor size, where a significant portion of the propeller is obstructed by the motor. In contrast, the 1203 motor experiences less interference with the propeller, demonstrating the impact of motor size on flight performance.
Frame Construction
The frame of the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad boasts sturdy carbon construction, with a thickness of slightly over 3mm. This robust frame design, coupled with a weight of under 250g, ensures that the quadcopter can withstand substantial impact forces without sustaining significant damage. The non-replaceable arm design of the frame is a trade-off for its durability, as it minimizes the risk of arm breakage even in severe crashes.
Tough Frame Design
This frame is incredibly durable and will withstand most crashes without breaking. The arms are strong and will hold up well even in the case of a bad crash. The overall build quality is top-notch, making it a great option for those looking for a sturdy micro quadcopter.
Standoff Design
While the frame is tough, some users may prefer a stronger M3 standoff in the front for added protection during crashes. This would provide extra stability and help prevent damage to the quadcopter in case of impact with obstacles like trees or poles.
Vibration Dampening
The TPU material used for vibration dampening is of medium stiffness, providing a good balance between rigidity and flexibility. The camera is effectively isolated from the frame, minimizing vibrations and ensuring smooth footage during flight.
Camera Mount and Performance
On a sunny day, I took the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad for a spin and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of Jello in the footage. Even without an Indy filter, the camera seemed to perform well. As someone who is critical of camera mounts, especially in systems like the O3, I was pleased to see that there were no visible vibrations affecting the camera. This is crucial as any disruptions in the camera data can lead to Jello effect and other issues. If you happen to spot any issues with the footage, feel free to let me know. You can check out both the DVR goggle footage and the stabilized gyro footage in the video description for a comparison of the flights.
Frame and Parts
The AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad comes with a battery strap, which I found to be too long for the batteries I typically use. I opted to switch mine out for a better fit. Additionally, the package includes M1.6 screws and spacers for mounting the O3 air unit. These components play a crucial role in creating space for the battery strap to go through and securely mounting the O3 Air unit. It’s worth noting that there isn’t much space between the O3 air unit and the flight controller. If you plan on using a 20×20 stack, you’ll need to opt for an all-in-one board or taller standoffs to accommodate the components properly.
AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad Review
Optimal Placement for Balance
When it comes to the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad, the placement of the O3 component plays a crucial role in achieving optimal balance during flight. By positioning the O3 in the front section of the quadcopter, the weight distribution is well-maintained. Additionally, with the battery, camera, and antenna strategically placed, the overall balance of the quadcopter is enhanced, resulting in better flight characteristics.
Cable Management
In terms of cable management, the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad impresses with its attention to detail. Instead of opting for a shorter cable, which could have been a more convenient but costly choice, the cable is neatly wrapped around the stand off in a spiral fashion. This not only provides a clean and organized look but also prevents potential vibrations from affecting the performance of the quadcopter.
Reducing Interference
One common issue with quadcopters is the potential for vibrations to transfer from the cables to the camera, causing interference. However, with the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad, it is evident that measures have been taken to minimize this possibility. The proper tension of the cables and ensuring that they do not come into contact with the carbon frame further enhances the overall performance of the quadcopter.
Stability and Performance
The AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad demonstrates excellent stability and performance, with minimal vibrations getting through. The pit tune is optimized, ensuring there are no oscillations or unwanted vibrations from the props during flight.
Potential Issues
In the event of a crash where a prop or motor is bent, there may be an increase in vibrations that could lead to Jello effects. The TPU isolates the camera well, but excessive vibrations can still impact the footage captured by the 03 air unit.
Frame Construction
The frame of the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad is built with standard M2 screws of different sizes to accommodate the stack and motor props securely. The camera is effectively isolated from the frame to minimize interference during flight.

Overview of AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad
No battery uh, 138 G, so pretty decent uh weight for the components and the 1404 Motors. I mainly flew it on this for 650 from gampb Ill link that in the video description, this will give you a pretty Solid, 3 and 12 to 4 minutes of flight time, and that is coming in together at 200. Well, just about 208 G, the other battery that I tried was the 4S 850 GMB, so slightly more capacity and here were were coming in at 225 g.
Flight Time and Battery Options
So still, 25 g under the 250 g limit, so no registration required and when you go with the larger 850 uh, you get a little bit more fly time, probably closer to 5 minutes again it depends on flight conditions and how aggressively youre flying you could stretch It out to perhaps as much as 5 and 1 12 minutes or six, if youre just kind of cruising around.
Power Curve and Motor Performance
At this extra weight, even though it doesn’t seem like a lot, it does make a difference in terms of um how much or you can throw the quad around uh the power curve on this motor, and this prop is pretty interesting. So, as I said earlier, a lot of the blade of this 2 and in prop is getting kind of blocked by the motor so at the lower RPM. So when you’re on the lower end of the throttle, it just feel a little bit underpowered doesn’t feel as responsive as it could be, but then, as you increase your throttle to above 25 in that band between like say, 25 to um, 50 theres, a pretty big jump in available power and, of course your maximum power is going to be above 50.
Power and RPM
You know, and – and up like you know, around the 75 range thats, where youre going to get your maximum amount of power maximum RPMs on on the prop spinning and thats, where all your power is going to come from so um because its you know this is Overall, a bit heavier than you know what I I would typically would like for a 2 and 12 in uh.
Responsiveness
You know youre going to have a little bit of Less responsiveness in the lower end of the throttle um. Maybe it doesnt matter to you for me. It kind of matters a bit if youre trying to fly kind of slow and be a little bit more precise um. I think, in that case, probably going if youre going to be flying mostly like that youre going to probably want to move to something like a cop and theres a lot of options in the uh 2 in and 2 and half inch range for that um.
Flying Style
But if youre mainly trying to fly this for fun, uh, lot freestyle and like flying fast and youre going to be in the 50 to 75 throttle range, then its not going to matter you youre not going to notice it at all youre going to be flying. Nice and fast plenty of power available doing all kinds of Tricks um. You know its just that if you want to fly like really slow, if you want to do like sort of close proximity flying at like slower speeds and that that under the 25 throttle range, uh does feel a bit sort of mushy and unresponsive.
Design Features
The AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad comes with a wide motor that blocks a significant portion of the prop, resulting in delayed power delivery until the prop reaches a higher speed. The frame design, with its unique curves, adds a touch of flair to the overall aesthetic. However, the design could potentially be improved by using an M3 standoff instead of M2 for the camera mounting area.
Unique Selling Point
This micro quad stands out in the market as one of the few pre-built models equipped with the O3 air unit. While there may be other models available, particularly cop models, the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad offers a non-c option with the 03 air unit built in. This makes it a rare and valuable find for enthusiasts seeking this specific feature.
Competition Comparison
As far as the reviewer is aware, there are limited options on the market that match the specifications of the AvionRC IKON 2.5 O3 Micro Quad. While cop models may be prevalent, non-c models with the 03 air unit built in are relatively scarce. The lack of competition in this niche segment makes this micro quad a standout choice for those looking for a unique combination of features.
