Unboxing the Kit
This is another ready to fly kit, perfect for those looking to get started in FPV on a budget. Priced around $170-$180, it includes the drone, remote, and monitor. Let’s take a look at what’s inside the package.
Contents of the Kit
Upon opening the kit, you’ll find a cloth case with a carrying handle. Inside, you’ll discover a USB-C adapter, instructions, spare set of props, USB-C cable for charging, antenna, and a gold acro newbie drone prop tool.
Drone Features
The drone comes equipped with a set of AZY triblade props and a controller with A and B buttons, a three-position switch, and a two-position switch. The controller may resemble a toy-grade gimbal, but we will have to test its resolution and functionality in practice.
Documentation and Setup
The kit includes detailed instructions for charging batteries, operating the transmitter and goggles, and using flight controls. The provided documentation should guide you through the setup process smoothly.
Unboxing and Setup
The button looks like that turns things on. I dont see a light. Oh there we go now. We have a light and thing vibrates and N theres the USBC port for charging it all right. So here are the goggles. Pretty cool youre like Hey wheres, the Drone and drone is actually stored inside the goggles, so youre going to pop this screen off here. So lets go ahead and pull these straps back.
Goggle Features
Obviously you got a head strap here. Three point head strap and you can adjust that with the velcro there, but the screen pops off the goggles, oh and interestingly, uh the goggle strap, goes through the screen as well: thats, nice, so uh, you wont, have the uh screen popping off by accident and flying Off somewhere.
Screen and Drone
Lets get rid of this uh packaging here and then heres the screen screen its a bit smaller than I thought it would be. I forget what size is Ill put up on the screen here and, as you can see, theres the Drone and the batteries pretty cool. All this is um. The these are some magnets here that hold the monitor in place, and this whole thing is in a tray, and this just pops out like this very cool.
Storage Tray and Charger
Look at this little tray, pretty cool, little storage tray for the Drone and the batteries, and this is also the charger youre going to plug in your power source here. Usbc to power bank whatever, and then you can charge up your batteries there, your standard, um, Nitro, Nector 300 or see 250 Mah hours. I havent seen these smaller, probably cuz. These are brush motors. They dont eat up as much power but yeah they just plug into here and then probably the light turns green when it is done.
Battery Configuration
But you have a spot for so come includes four batteries. You can add. Obviously its got spots for an eight more so you have 12 batteries, total pretty cool, and then this is like foam in here. So it kind of holds it in place its not rattling around. And then the Drone just sits in here very easy to put away and think battery take a battery out here and then the battery lets see okay, heres, the battery cable, pigtail, oh and the battery will just plug in to here. I think it just slide and slides into here this little space, pretty nice and to plug it in you. Just do something like that.
Remote Control Operation
There you go, got some lights, pretty cool set that down and then Im going to turn on the remote, and it should be bound already so wondering one of these is probably for arming Im just going to play around here, see nope, not that one.
Setting Up the Drone
Maybe this one nope so its this switch here, arms the motors and then throttle up yep. So obviously I probably want to charge the battery before I play with it, but looks like that’s already um bound up. You don’t have to do anything which is great
Setting Up the Goggles
I’m going to go ahead and turn on the goggles here. I’m assuming this red button is the power. Alright, want to go ahead and attach the antenna to the screen here and let’s just detach this and see if we have video. So the power button’s here turns able to turn on. Oh, looks like the battery is dead in here, so let’s charges it up first.
Features of the Goggles
I got it charged up. Just to show some of the buttons here, there’s a power button, record button, search button, menu button, band and minus channel plus to search for channels individually. There’s a micro SD card slot here and there’s a 32 GB micro SD card already included, pretty nice. There’s an AV out Port here. So if you want to send the analog video out to a bigger screen, you can do that and you just have your USBC Port over here with an LED showing the charging.
Powering Up the System
Lets go ahead and power this on. Here we go, got the logo. Actually, this thing vibrates – and I already have the controller and the drone powered up. You can see the video there and got some information. It’s like an OSD from the screen, so it’s on channel one on band e boss, cam 57, something oh and the OSD went away after a certain amount of time.
Drone OSD Overview
This is the Drone OSD and we’ve got your fly time. It shows important information such as the radio signal level, the Drone’s name, the mode you’re in (angle mode, horizon mode, air mode), battery level, and video channel.
Flight Modes
There are three different flight modes available on the NewBeeDrone VR Drone: angle mode, horizon mode, and air mode (similar to acro mode). These modes can be easily switched using the control on the drone.
Unknown Functions
There are a couple of buttons on the drone that do not have clear documentation on their functions. While one button may be related to changing rates, the other is for arming the drone before flight. It is recommended to check the product page for more information on these functions.
Flying Experience
As a seasoned FPV pilot, it is easy to notice where cost savings have been made in the NewBeeDrone VR Drone. However, overall, the drone performs well, and the flight experience is enjoyable. With easy access to flight modes and essential information on the OSD, flying this drone is a breeze for both beginners and experienced pilots.
Brushed Motors
Obviously, theyre using brushed motors here, not great overall, especially if youre looking for performance, but obviously, if youre just starting out its going to be fine.
Controller
The controller is using toy grade gimbals. I think they have put in some funky rates and Expo in into the Drone to compensate for the limitations of the controller, of course, not that a lot of that stuff is exposed.
OSD and Tuning
You can go into the OSD and tune pids and that kind of stuff and rates. I did kind of take a look at that stuff, and I didnt know what the Baseline was. So without that knowledge, its hard to really know youd have to talk to newbie J about that, but yeah the controller is toy grade.
Flight Modes
I found out right away when I tried to take off at the beginning of that flight in air mode and it didnt feel like youre flying Acro mode on a beta flight drone at all. So I just basically stuck it right into angle mode or level mode right away, and that is actually pretty close.
Price
So the I think here is, if youre starting out, the price is $159.99. I got the price wrong earlier in the video except for your controller drone and goggles, and batteries and charger all in a case its not a bad price.
Introduction to NewBeeDrone VR Drone RTF FPV Kit
You get. You started uh. You can plug this into a simulator on your on your PC. If you want to practice so probably going to start off with that and then fly the Drone um its a good way to start obviously youre going to outgrow this, probably depending on your skill levels and how much time you put into it fairly quickly. I would think um, but you can pass it on to somebody else uh.
Version 2.5 Upgrades
This is a version 2.5 of this kit. I did not review the earlier versions, so I have no idea what the differences are. So if youre wondering like oh, I have version one of this kid should I get version 2.5 um. Fortunately, since I did not review any of the previous versions of this, I dont have a baseline for comparison to give you any kind of um guidance about that. Probably the best thing to do is to go to the product. Page link will be down in the video description. It does point out some of the differences between this one and the previous version, I think, is version two and I believe, um after August 30th, therere going theres going to be like some upgrades, like I saw on the product page, that the batteries are going to Be 300 million hours now, instead of 250 million hours, so give you a little B more flight time, um so again check the product page. They will update that with any incremental changes over time, because, obviously this review will be quickly outdated, uh because a lot of these companies they make updates and little improvements and changes to their product over time.
