Unboxing and Contents
The BetaFPV Pavo 20 Pro is an upgrade of the regular 2-inch drone, still running on 3S power but remarkably light at 108 grams. The drone is equipped with larger 2.2-inch props for increased stability and efficiency. Opening the box, you will find the drone itself, along with a foam insert, a canopy, a strip to put around the ducts, extra gem fan blades, FPV props, and a USB C adapter to connect to your flight controller. The drone’s props are a unique size at 2.28 inches, and it also comes with additional hardware accessories from BetaFPV.
Specs and Design
The BetaFPV Pavo 20 Pro is the Plug and Play version, allowing you to add your own receiver. With a wheelbase of 93.7 millimeters motor to motor, and a weight of 108.6 grams without a battery, the drone is impressively light for its size and battery configuration. The frame is sturdy and injection molded, with 2mm thick carbon fiber components, including the canopy.
Motor and Flight Controller
The drone is equipped with Lava Motors 1104 7200 KV, providing ample power for its size. It is powered by an F4 flight controller with 20 amps integrated ESC, supporting up to 3S batteries. Additionally, the drone features integrated ExpressLRS for reliable connectivity. The inclusion of a battery strap allows for versatility in battery sizes and configurations.
The O3 System
The O3 system is in and ready to fly with the 550 milliamps 3s battery, weighing at 149g with this battery. While it may not be the stealthiest drone, it copes well with breezy conditions thanks to its bigger propellers and better motors. The drone performs admirably in Acro mode, but one downside is the visibility of the propellers in the frame, even at a slight tilt angle.
Design and Camera Placement
The design flaw that stands out is the positioning of the camera. With the camera slightly set back, it is difficult to capture certain angles, such as the perfect chicken chase angle. If the camera were moved a bit forward, it would greatly enhance the overall filming experience and remove obstructions from the frame.
Performance in Flight
Despite the minor issues with design, the BetaFPV Pavo 20 Pro flies smoothly and efficiently, even in windy conditions. The larger props and lower pitch noise make for a quieter flight experience compared to some 2-inch drones. The drone handles well even at a distance of 20 meters, maintaining a good balance of speed and control.
Fun Features
One enjoyable feature of the BetaFPV Pavo 20 Pro is the ability to chase chickens in Ang mode. The drone offers a more controlled and precise flight experience, allowing for unique and entertaining shots such as chicken chases. The stunning images captured during sunset with the chicken running add an element of fun and excitement to the flying experience.
Flying Experience
Now I managed to do that because usually I film at a later hour, because its just super hot, but now we got a little bit of a better climate. Okay lets do some Acro. We got the chicken chase part. I already set up the rates much lower than they were because uh they were incredibly fast and I didnt really feel in control. But oh wow, like this, its fine, its still a little bit jump, jumpy, which I mean its a super light drone with uh with big power, so Jello it doesnt have Jello. So finally, B FPV learned how to avoid that very very nice. If it wasn’t for the freaking ducking view, this would have been a 10 out of 10 drone, 5 minutes and 30 seconds of flying its efficient, its powerful and its locked in. Even with this wind. Very, very, very good job.
Camera Performance
It doesn’t seem to have any vibration in the camera. The only thing I don’t like is when you are at lower camera angles. You see the ducks in view now I put it at this 20, 25 camera angle. You don’t see the Ducks anymore, but if you want to fly slow in DOS you’re going to be pointing a little bit up, which is not ideal. I wish they put this camera a little bit forward. So you wouldn’t see the Ducks, because it’s a cine whoop lets fly again. You can see a little bit of the Ducks down there, but I want to show you what you can do with the minimum camera angle, which seems to be this one.
The Speed and Performance
The Drone goes um much faster. I mean for this sort of cruising its fine. Maybe you are in a city. You want to do a line, its fine being at 20. It cruises better, not bad, but the problem is when you want to go slower. You are looking up not even that much, but during the day, if you see you see what Im talking about youre looking up and the the sky is Overexposed is uh is not the best really. Okay lets Agro for acro, probably its better, because you see a little bit better where youre going. When you do this kind of flips yeah, I feel better AC, gring, now, hey, luckily its powerful.
Maneuverability and Control
So, oh, who Im dodging stuff like crazy yeah fly, is very, very good and we see the chicken sleeping down there. Probably you can. I cannot because the signal is not incredible. Back there yeah. Oh I mean I am flying better with this drone, then with a 5 in because its smaller you have more confidence in these tight spaces.
Final Thoughts on the BetaFPV Pavo 20 Pro
Time for my final opinion on the B fpv Pavo 20 Pro as you can see its slightly bigger than the regular Pavo 20. This is a 3s 2in drone and this is a 2.2 in 3s and it deserves the pro denomination because you gain a a little bit of extra efficiency power stability. The noise, the perceive noise, is slightly less than this one, and I mean they improved it.
Marginal Gain in Weight
A lot with a Marg, a marginal gain in weight, which is amazing and sure I will go with this one. Both of these drones don’t have Jello in the3, which is very nice, because the original P Pico had a little bit of jello issues. The only thing that doesn’t make these drones perfect is the camera mount, which should have been a time bit forward like half a CM would have been fantastic. They should have replaced these HS with screw mounts.
Camera Mount Issue
If you want to lose a little bit of camera protection and gain a little bit of camera view without the ducks in front, as you can see, I Tred switching from the original O3 holes to this one, which is a little bit more forward. It’s a tiny bit better, but still, if you use a 5-degree angle you’re going to see the Ducks and like this I feel like it’s fine enough, but I wish this wasn’t a problem, so I could promote this drone 10 out of 10 and this drone.
Unique Features of BetaFPV Pavo 20 Pro
I feel like it sits in its own category, so you cannot really compare it with many others. It’s not as light and as silent as a 2s, but it flies in the wind much better. It has much better control and it’s not as heavy and as noisy as a for a drone, but those fly a little bit faster and have a little bit better control and carry capacity. Because on this drone, you’re not going to put a naked GoPro.
