Preparation for the Night Flight
Right now, its pretty late. At night, its around 847-900. I’m going with my friend Abig, we’re going to shoot some drone footage and take my drone out for a spin. We have some fun planned for tonight as we head to Tampa General Hospital, where there is a rooftop that we can utilize for some cool shots. This Vlog will aim to showcase raw footage without much editing, as it seems to be the trend for many content creators lately.
Embracing Raw Content
I have noticed that raw content tends to perform better than heavily edited videos. Inspired by creators like Sam Mck, who simply places a camera in his car and talks while driving, I have decided to test this approach for myself. By keeping the content raw and unfiltered, viewers can get a more authentic experience and feel more connected to the content.
Exploring New Possibilities
As we head to our location for the night flight with the Mavic 4 Mini Pro, I am excited to test out different filming techniques. By pushing the boundaries of traditional editing and presentation styles, we can see how audiences respond to a more unpolished and immediate form of content. It will be interesting to see how this experiment plays out and whether it resonates with viewers.
Continuous Recording
One challenge I am facing is figuring out how to keep recording consistently while driving. Maintaining a constant flow of content without interruptions is crucial for capturing the essence of the moment. By exploring ways to ensure continuous recording, I hope to provide a seamless and engaging viewing experience for my audience.
Mounting the Drone
Mounting the drone properly is crucial to ensure that the camera remains stable during flights. Without a secure mount, there is a risk of the camera flying away during hard breaks, which can be a nightmare scenario for any drone pilot. It is essential to take the time to securely mount the drone before taking it out for a night flight.
Photography and Videography as a Career
When pursuing photography and videography as a career, it is important to focus on developing your skills rather than getting caught up in acquiring the latest gear. While having quality equipment is essential, spending too much time obsessing over gear can hinder your creativity and growth as a creator. Instead, invest your time in honing your craft and creating compelling content.
Lessons Learned
Reflecting on the early days of starting a professional career in photography and videography, there are lessons to be learned. While there may be things you wish you had done differently, there are also aspects that you are grateful for. One of the key takeaways is the importance of focusing on skill development and not letting gear become the sole focus of your work.
Time is Your Biggest Asset
Regardless of your profession, investing time to improve your skills is crucial. This holds true whether you are a photographer, videographer, or in any other field. The knowledge and expertise you gain over the years are invaluable assets that set you apart from others. Understanding concepts such as aperture, shutter speed, and lighting can greatly enhance the quality of your work and allow you to adapt to new technologies like AI more efficiently.
Embrace New Technology
As technology continues to advance, it is essential to stay updated on the latest tools and techniques. Learning from the best in the industry and embracing new technologies can significantly improve your workflow and help you achieve better results. Investing in equipment like a mirrorless camera can enhance your photography skills and open up new possibilities for creative expression.
The Power of Learning
Grinding and learning every day is key to mastering your craft. By continuously expanding your knowledge and seeking out new ways to improve, you can stay ahead of the curve and enhance your skills. Whether you are a photographer focusing on still images or a videographer exploring new visual storytelling techniques, the learning process never stops.

The Importance of Gear in Photography
Whether you are a professional photographer or someone who just enjoys capturing moments, the debate around gear can be endless. Some might argue that investing in top-of-the-line equipment is crucial for producing high-quality images, while others believe that skill and creativity play a bigger role in photography. The reality, however, lies somewhere in between.
Breaking the Myth: Expensive Gear vs. Skill
It is true that having a high-end camera like a Canon 5D Mark IV can significantly enhance the quality of your photos and videos. However, it is essential to remember that even with a more budget-friendly SLR, like the 5D Mark III, you can achieve impressive results. The key lies in understanding exposure, framing, and composition, rather than solely relying on expensive gear.
Don’t Fall into the Gear Trap
Many photographers and videographers often get caught up in the cycle of constantly upgrading their equipment in the hopes of attracting more clients and improving their craft. The truth is, the return on investment for pricey gear may not always be immediate. Spending thousands on a new camera or lens doesn’t guarantee instant success or profitability.
Focus on Creativity and Skill
Instead of fixating on the latest gear trends, it is crucial to prioritize developing your skills and honing your creativity. Experiment with different techniques, lighting settings, and perspectives to elevate your photography. Ultimately, it is your vision and unique style that will set you apart, not the brand or model of your camera.

Your business, you have to spend your time right. You have to spend your hours working. Are you expecting not getting paid that 300,000 that you put on like, say the Sony A7S3 or a7IV? I think it’s to 2,100, or something like that? Um yeah, a wedding, maybe you could get like 3,500 or even if, like 2,500, like or 500 or even like, you know, get like a 5,500 gigs wedding. You still have to spend your time to do the work, and, on top of that, a lot of weddings, if you want to scale, you’re going to have to most of the time that’s what I do.
Investing in Quality Gear
I have to obviously pay my association associators, my people to come and help me out with the gig and all that stuff as well. So all that cost you know when you keep thinking about it, it’s so funny on how easy it is that we convince ourselves by buying these gears. It’s a great choice, right, because we always want to have like a shiny. Like me, I fell into that trap that I always want to have a shiny objects. I want to always have better gears. It’s really not about flexing. I would just like have us blindly believe that with those gears on my quality and will get a lot better now a smart ways that some I know somebody do.

Flying the Drone in Downtown Tampa Riverwalk
During a recent event, we had the opportunity to fly the Mavic 4 Mini Pro drone in Downtown Tampa Riverwalk. Initially, there were some doubts about the distance of the building we wanted to capture, but after some deliberation, we decided to go for it.
Daytime Footage and Color Grading
We started by capturing footage during the day and then proceeded to color grade it using a basic Phantom Lots for Mavic 3. The result was impressive, with sharp footage that only required minimal color grading in post-production.
Night Mode Performance
One of the standout features of the Mavic 4 Mini Pro drone is its night mode performance. Switching to night mode yielded surprisingly good results, with sharp footage that was already color graded. The night mode capabilities of this drone exceeded our expectations, delivering impressive results even in low-light conditions.
Shooting Underwater with the Mavic 4 Mini Pro
This time, I set the DLo shutter speed to around 120 or 125 to capture brighter footage. We decided to try shooting under close to the water to grab some cool shots underwater. This comparison focuses on the night mode versus the normal delog mode when shooting at night. The top one is the night mode, which, in my opinion, is a lot sharper. The color grading is already quite clean, so there’s not much need for adjustments. With dlog, you can potentially push the colors a bit more, but the night mode footage already looks pretty good to me.
Benefits of Night Mode
If anything, what I’ve learned from this shoot is that it’s beneficial to use the night mode when capturing footage at night. It helps make the footage sharper, and when the exposure is set to auto mode, you can achieve the best exposure possible. Overall, the results are pretty impressive and the footage looks sharp and clean.
