    Charging the 16-inch MacBook Pro

The DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter is a versatile device that can be used to charge various devices, including the 16-inch MacBook Pro. With a total output power of 100W, it provides a reliable and efficient charging solution. The voltage is consistently maintained around 20V, ensuring a stable charging experience.

The charging curve for the MacBook Pro can be divided into four parts. In the first part, the peak power remains at 93W from 17 minutes to 43 minutes. Then, the power gradually drops to 70W and 44W, respectively. The final part begins at one hour and nine minutes, with the power slowly declining to almost zero. It takes a total of one hour and 56 minutes for the MacBook Pro to be fully charged.

Additionally, we also examined the charging speed for the MacBook Pro. It is impressive to note that the DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter can charge the MacBook Pro to 50% in just 33 minutes and reach 80% in 57 minutes. The last 20% of charging takes nearly half the total time, emphasizing the efficiency of this power adapter.

    Charging the iPhone 14 Pro

In addition to the MacBook Pro, we also tested the DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter with the iPhone 14 Pro. The initial voltage for charging the iPhone is around 9V, and the charging curve can be divided into five parts.

In the first part, the peak power is at 20.4W at 17 minutes. The power gradually drops to 16W, 11W, and 6W, respectively, at 48 minutes. It is interesting to note that the voltage drops to 5V during this process, but the current increases. After two hours and two minutes, the iPhone 14 Pro is fully charged.

The DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter proves to be efficient in charging the iPhone 14 Pro, but slightly slower when compared to the Apple 20W charger. The Apple charger is able to fully charge the iPhone 14 Pro in just one hour and 45 minutes, while the DJI adapter takes two hours and two minutes for the same task.

Overall, the DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter is a reliable and efficient charging solution for both the 16-inch MacBook Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro. With its stable voltage output and impressive charging speeds, it is a valuable addition to any drone enthusiast or tech-savvy individual’s collection of charging accessories.

    Standby Power Consumption

The DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter stands out when it comes to standby power consumption. At 220V 50Hz, it consumes a mere 0.066W, and at 110V 60Hz, it consumes only 0.019W. In terms of energy consumption, this translates to approximately 0.578KWh and 0.166KWh per year, respectively. These figures are significantly lower than most other chargers in the market.

    Conversion Efficiency

When it comes to conversion efficiency, the DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter performs exceptionally well. At 220V 50Hz, its conversion efficiency ranges from 75.87% to 91.41%. Similarly, at 110V 60Hz, the conversion efficiency varies from 75.91% to 89.61%. However, it’s important to note that due to its maximum power output of 100W, when charging two devices simultaneously, the charger can only provide up to 90W.

    Ripple Test

Ripple refers to the fluctuation in the output voltage of a power adapter. Lower ripple values indicate better quality and stability. The DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter performs admirably in this regard.

Under no-load conditions, when the output voltage is set to 20V and the current is 0A, the ripples are minimal, measuring around 25 mVp-p. However, when the output voltage is set to 9V or 12V, the ripples increase to around 70 mVp-p.

Under loaded conditions, the overall ripples are lower than without load. For example, at 15V and 5A output, the highest ripple measures 22 and 23.2 mVp-p, respectively. Similarly, at 5V and 3A output, the lowest ripple is 11.6 and 12 mVp-p, respectively. Overall, the DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter maintains excellent ripple control in most cases.

    Thermal Performance

To assess the thermal performance of the DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter, we conducted a test using a 25°C (77°F) thermotank. After an hour of continuous 100W output, we recorded the maximum temperature of the charger.

Under 220V 50Hz conditions, the front of the charger reached a maximum temperature of 56.3°C (133.34°F), while the back reached 68°C (154.4°F). Switching to 110V 60Hz, the maximum temperatures on the front and back were 64.3°C (147.74°F) and 65°C (149°F), respectively. These results indicate that the DJI 100W Dual USB-C GaN Power Adapter maintains acceptable thermal levels, ensuring safe operation during extended use.
